Ummm... Check out Apple.com. They obviously dont even have a protype worth photographing because all their pictures are CG. Oh wait... you can actually buy that stuff right now? Perhaps something is wrong with the logic here...
By the same logic, companies that don't condone the US policy on Iraq have a moral obligation to not do business in America. Just playing devil's advocate here...
Ummm... Last time I checked, Microsoft wasn't an individual. It is a corporation owned by stockholders. Let's hold a vote of Microsoft stockholders to see if they think Microsoft should obey foreign laws. Do you seriously think they would want Microsoft breaking the law here?
Furthermore, who decides what is moral? You? I personally don't think people should drink alcohol, but that doesn't make it OK for me to drive around to all the local bars and set them on fire.
I think that articles submitted to Slashdot should at least be expected to tell us what non-computer acronyms means when used in posts. If took me a little while to figure out why General Motors had anything to do with plants in the first place...
My friend gave me an ubuntu live CD on Tuesday for the Power PC processor. I stuck it in my Mac, but it wouldn't boot (some kind of memory error.) I tried the PC version, and it was very sluggish on my Pentium IV 2Ghz (w/2GB of RAM.) I'll admit that probably had more to do with the fact that I was running a live CD than a real install, but that's a horrible way to give someone a first impression of your OS.
Powerful open source applications? Have you tried doing anything in GIMP on a Macintosh? It will only run through Apple's X11.app, and it makes a 386 running Windows XP look fast. I was so disappointed by the performance I bought Photoshop Elements for Mac on eBay (it only cost me $30 though... well worth the price.)
Yep... and I've had one for a couple of months. Although I'm using it with 802.11b and 802.11g devices, I've noticed a big performance boost. The major advantages:
The ability to go really fast
No mixed mode (i.e. an 802.11b device on the network doesn't slow down 802.11g
Greater range with existing 802.11b and 802.11g devices
1) Stupid and Ignorant (includes religious morons)
2) Rich Greedy Bastards who are getting a kick back out of this corrupt administration.
I find it fascinating that you don't see a problem with only allowing a person to fall into one of two categories. As someone who is neither "stupid" nor a "rich greedy bastard", I must be a paradox.
This is nothing new... Maxthon (formerly known as myIE2) has been doing everything but the "firewall" for years. It uses the IE engine, but behaves like a separate browser.
8 seconds? You're complaining about having to wait a whole 8 seconds?
You youngsters have it easy these days! In my day we all had to use Windows Find. After 25 minutes of "Not responding...", we were lucky to get away without a reboot....and we didn't have these "laptops" you speak of. If we wanted to use our computer outdoors, we had two choices: a personal generator or a really long extension cord...
I had a parody MP3 of that song that I downloaded around 9 years ago. I can't believe it... I was clearing out some disk space, and I rm'd them from my server last week. I found it again using Google, and here it is. It likely won't survive a thorough slashdotting, so here are some of the lyrics:
Well, I bought it up
brought Windows home and tried to boot it up but when I load it up it says my memory is not enough...
I've been running out, I need some extra RAM to fix me up I had to cough it up, open my wallet up it never stops (never stops, never stops, never stops)
This Windows 95, it's sucking up my drive, it makes a Pentium Fly! But my PC is obsolete, I'll have to buy myself a brand new machine!
will lead to offloading the heavy-duty positional and map processing to a remote service over the Internet
"Heavy-duty positional and map processing"??? You do realize my half-inch thick Pocket PC with GPS can handle it with no problem, right? Do you expect technology to get more powerful or less powerful in the future?
Even if the driving processor needed to be reserved 100% for driving, what is to stop the manufacturer from putting in a $100 unit with full GPS routing capability? Do you think they'll remove turn signals and airbags too, because of the processing they require?
It is well documented that Apple is using the wild success of the iPod to drive interest in their other products, namely the Macintosh and OS X. This is the first case I've seen of someone buying a new PC because of an iPod...
I disagree... the quickest solution to getting Windows apps running will be the next version of Virtual PC.

Is Microsoft killing and imprisoning dissenters?

I can't elaborate on that, but WindowsUpdate will help avoid the security hole. The patch is out, and has been out at least all of today.
Who on earth would buy an OS, and then buy a computer to go along with it? Just pay the premium for the hardware, and you'll get the OS.
Did you bother to read the comment you replied to?
Note that by moving ALL of the files and folders, you'll be disabling the Search functionality in Acrobat Reader.

Yes, but Apple is hoping you pay for the new OS version, once it is actually released.
Of course, the next version will likely be pirated just as quickly as the last one...
It means that people that still have the older pirated version of OS X will not be able to run any programs that are created after yesterday.
You are only proving my point. I don't agree with you and your infinite wisdom, so I must just be stupid...
*stands up and raises hand*
You must assume that anyone who doesn't agree with you on politics is simply stupid, and therefore cannot be a Mac-user. How narrow-minded...
Yes, Neverwinter Nights knocks the socks off of DS2. Plus, NWN has been out for two years, and you can buy the Linux and OS X versions.

This is Slashdot. If it is a Linux or Apple-based company, they say "more than 10 percent" making it sound like a good thing.
If it were Windows-related, they would say "less than 15 percent", making it out to be a bad thing.
It goes on from there...
