    Patent reform:
    make the PTO legally responsible for the validity of the patent.
    If the patent is attacked in court and ruled invalid, the PTO will cover legal fees, and return submission and upkeep costs plus interest.
    Nothing else will make them do their job right.

    I don't think a court can order anybody to give away its property for a set price. If Nokia do not want to give Apple the same deal with cell technology as to anybody else, so what? It's their fucking property.
    When I am selling my car and am willing to take a lower offer from a friend then from a stranger will I be dragged to court?

    Where does the volume come from when calculating the density? I mean there is no way the measure the actual 'size' of a black hole apart from calculating the diameter of the event horizon by its mass, is there?

    This is not true. You can extinguish burning (white) phosphorus with water. Trouble is, after the water runs off it will self ignite again on contact with air above 30 degrees C.
    Its this one allotrope out of many that is highly reactive, and single atoms embedded in silicon have hardly anything to do with the character of a bulk of the pure element.

    So why the fuck would anyone want to be on facebook?
    When social networking started in the early 2000s it took me about two months on a network to realize how dangerous this can be and deleted my account right there.

    I think it should be pointed out that it's magnesium _alloys_ we are talking about. As opposed to titanium which afaik can support structures in pure form.

    In fact, unmanned attack swarms are still science fiction. The swarming research that is going on (and demonstrated in the article) is all about surveillance and reconnaissance.

    I don't think tuning a swarm to spy on something is all that different from tuning a swarm to shoot something.

    Critical mission hardware is always far behind in performance, be it military or civilian. The avionics of the 787 will not run on i7, either. The systems are tested for faultless operation until their noses bleed and that takes time.

    This move by Toyota would mean that they recognize the patent as valid.

    The recommended _oral_ intake of zinc is on the order of 10 mg. Dumping hundreds of mgs directly into the blood stream is by no means the same ballpark and definitely could be a problem.

    It's an exponential decay. There is no sharp cutoff. Nothing special happens at 100 km.

    Yes it does. At around that height the theoretical speed that would be required to generate enough lift to stay in the 'air' surpasses orbital speed in vacuum.
    Look at 'Karman line'.
