Exactly. Right now I'm wondering if I should go with the $6000 wireless to get my friend's dorm connected to ours, or just buy a 37 inch monitor. http://www.bombcar.com It's where it is at.
Two things - the article said, near the end, that they were able to hire one less technician because Linux never failed them. Hmmm. If Linux takes over, then there are going to be some techs out of business (mostly MSCE's, but still....) Next - WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE WINDOWS 2000. Nothing else is going to give use Linux users a sea of free hardware - PII MINIMUM for W2K. I can still run Linux fine on a Pentium 233 MMX with a 4 gig HD - but those will be almost free after W2k comes out. Just some thoughts.......... http://www.bombcar.com It's where it is at.
Simple. Use the wireless capabilities of the G$ to download LinuxPPC and your favorite x86 version and install. In an hour you got a PIII600 with Linux and a G$ with Linux. Then run rc5des and all is well. http://www.bombcar.com It's where it is at.
I think it had (at one time) to do with the fact that unix is a TradeMark of AT&T or someone. So *nix is not a TradeMark of anyone. Except *.* Incorporated:) http://www.bombcar.com It's where it is at.
Why doesn't someone at linux.org or somewhere contact a key manufacturer and make Penguin Keys? They could easily replace the WinKeys, and who cares if they do nothing but put a cute full color penguin on your keyboard?
I know (part of the reasons for this). Many of the Mandrake programs are designed to give you Pretty Colors (TM). For example, there is a wrapper for gcc (colorizegcc or something like that) which colorizes the error messages. These extra color sequences probably cause some other wrappers to go nuts. Also, it doesn't come with EGCS, but instead cometh with the PGCC. But LYNX doesn't WORK!
I installed the latest (6.0) and Lynx won't work! This is unacceptable! It dies saying metamail: can't open temporary file... Arrrgh! I need my LYNX!!!!!!!!!!
There is not much evidence for evolution. Perhaps if one reads "Darwin's Black Box" one might get a better understanding of the numbers involved in "evolution by change". Basically it says that in a billion years monkeys with sand can make PIII 500's with linux. Doesn't happen
WINS is basically a cheesy form of DNS for windows If you double click network neighborhood, windows sends a message out to your subnet saying "Who Are You?". And the machines respons As you can guess, this is horribly inefficent. WINS allows one machine (IE your Samba Server) to respond to the questions about name -> ip resolution. It also can be used to allow multiple subnet browsing. Now does anyone know how to make dhcpd under linux tell windows machines where the wins server is? My guess is it's something like option wins {172.16.0.1}....
This is exactly what I have experienced. I used to drive to school, and there was one place where the traffic slowed down *just* before I had to exit. By doing the buffer thing (leaving space before me), and helping the merging traffic, I at least always thought I got through faster.
It responds to my ping. But no evil lynx h4x0rs can access p0rt 80. Because we all know people want to steal your information from port 80. Maybe the webpage was something that you "weren't supposed to see"
YEAH! Gerald Holmes will be able to explain that this is actually a very smart move (TM) on microsoft's part because now that long haired crazy linuz guys are doomed!
Though this may be true for COMMERCIAL software (IE who wants to call the new super release 2000.0b.3 SE "beta" when it's on the store shelves), it doesn't for GNU/BSD/Free software. There beta actually still means something. (Of course I won't have to mention that BETA IBM serveraid drivers allowed for a machine with more uptime and less, ahhh, "thunderstorms" than that W2K machine. Anyone know the hardware stats on that sucker?

Does this mean that my mouse no longer will have to use a cord? Will it do what I tell it? :)

Why doesn't Fry's have a web page? We should make one for them!

You can boot off the serveRAID thing. We did. Contact bdragoo@thomasaquinas.edu for more information about booting off the Netfinity's serveRAID.

In fact, all of us at slashdot should start to boycot that alpha thing amid W and R. It could turn fools angry, don't you think?
Oh thank you so much! Thank you thank you thank you!
Lynx rules....
My guess is most of the problems with mandrake are solved like this....

No need to sell your time when you run LYNX!

Hmm. If there is so much time being wasted - how come i get an instantaneous response from Rob on an email I sent him?

Sounds to me like an extremly detailed version of SimCity 3000. But on a 6200 processor machine. (And probably no 3d accelerator)
