They aren't finding terrorists, they're making terrorists. We used to just create them in the middle east. I guess it's easier to just create them at home.
The people who actually molest kids are those with easy access to them. most cases of abuse are from moms, dads, stepmoms, aunts and uncles, sometimes even a teacher. They don't care if you monitor their computer because they don't need one to get what they're after. No amount of computer monitoring or demonizing things that are even tangentially related to kiddie porn will prevent or even slow down actual cases of actual abuse.
These laws are about removing people from society who don't have a "healthy" sexual attitude. That's why drawings are illegal in many places. Because it's not about reducing abuse, it's about people making themselves feel less uncomfortable about their own sexuality. In my own country, the people here are absolutely bat shit crazy when it comes to sexuality. They fear it, and they hate people who have a different attitude about it than they do. My generation is the first where simply being gay is not a crime. Hell at this point I can see things at the beach that would be illegal on my computer. There have even been people investigated for looking at porn of adults who are young looking. And if you let yourself get wrapped up in this paranoia you are helping no one and hurting everyone, including yourself.
And this needs to be said:
I would rather live in a world where occasional child abuse happens, than one where it never happens because we're all under constant surveillance.
FPSs are not the owners or even the originators of co-op multi-player. The original Neverwinter Nights for example had it and it worked very well (a RPG similar to ME).
Um, I was the same age as the girl in the photo in 1977, and I can assure you my parents took a ton of photos of me, and now that we're all older, they seem to enjoy them.
Photographing your kids is nothing new and it seems to bring people a lot of joy, so why have a problem with it.
People are under-informed and outright lied to. The media reports what the government tells them to report. And they feel utterly powerless to do anything about it. No one cares that our armies are used as death squads, targeting civilians all over the world, to advance international business interests. No one cares that the president can legally murder any U.S. citizen with no judicial oversight. No one cares that the government uses "national security" to keep almost everything they do a secret from "the people" who are supposed to be informed about their government. No one cares that police who violate people's rights are never punished for it. No one cares that "corporations are people" means that a foreign corporation can have one satellite office in the U.S. and pump unlimited funds into American politics, meaning we legally allow our government to be run by non-Americans who have a few bucks to spare.
And please don't use the word "vote", because we try to, but the only two parties that are allowed air time and public campaign funds are the exact same party with or without the religion. And neither hears you. I honestly think a lot of these guys (and gals) want to do a good job, but they spend all day with people whispering in their ear, and those whispers aren't coming from "the people". And that's the worst part of it, that you have no voice. Your vote is supposed to be your voice, but it's not.
There's probably 5 or 6 members of congress in the last few years I've heard say anything outside the party talking points, they actually sound like people who know how to lead, know how to make things work. But they're drowning. Their peers are louder, and there's more of them, and they spend all year trying to shift their party's representation from 49% to 51%, all that time trying to KEEP their job rather than trying to DO their job.
A few years we had some public preacher on campus. He was very loud and very in your face. One day he walked up to a couple and screamed "WHORE" in some girls' face. The man with her punched the preacher. The cops showed up and arrested the preacher, not the puncher.
This was an issue of words being used in a public place, in a hateful manner, which is apparently a crime (although certainly a minor one). I'm not even arguing for or against such laws, just that people should know they exist.
I'm waiting for the day a software vendor puts a line in the EULA that forbids black people from using it. After all, his software, his rules, right? Surely the courts would stand up for this, since apparently if you put anything into an agreement, it's legally binding.
It's religion vs morality. Yes, to some extent religion can interfere with scientific progress, but not so much these days, in developed nations. Morality however... well, there's no "proof" that one set of values is better than another, so people more easily deny say, women's rights, than they deny something like heliocentrism.
And I love people who look the other way when the government tramples on its citizens because they prefer to live in a world where the U.S. is "the good guys" even if that world is a fantasy.
The best part of this - since when have you ever had a hard time signing up to a web site. I probably have account on 30+ software sites alone, that I visited once. Singing up took all of 2 minutes.
Games with a monthly fee tend to have frequent additions of new content and a more robust multi-player experience. There are lots of games that have a multi-player component that is free.
Keep checking. Blizzard staggers their beta invites so that different people are at different stages of play. If you don't get one today you may in a week or a month.
You deserve nothing. And education is already free for the first 13 years, and somehow those teachers manage to get a salary out of it. Healthcare is also free for a lot of people, and again medical personnel seem to get paid for it.
Yes and do you have any idea how many lives have been ruined by alcohol in the mean time?
A few I'm sure. And how many have been enhanced? A number you're probably less willing to admit. Hell I would bet half of the people visiting this thread were conceived because of alcohol. Many met their S.O. while both of you were buzzed. And let's not forget that baseball would no longer exist if fans couldn't get drunk enough to tolerate it.

Wow, did you time travel here from the 60s? Next you'll be calling someone a pinko.
Socialism is not communism, and even the current Democrat Party is not as far to the left as it has been in the past.

Where are you from, Prisonland? In the malls here, security guards do not carry mace, tazers, or handcuffs. They have one thing only, a 2-way radio.

The USSR was not socialism, no matter how much Fox News tells you it was.

Then I will provide a better example.

On the other hand, as you increase atmospheric CO2, plants need less water and can grow in areas they couldn't before.

Okay, so I own a COPY of that software. Why can't I do whatever I want with my COPY?
Can Psystar just sell the hardware and OSX in its own box, and let YOU break the EULA?
How do they know what content is copyright infringing?

What did you do before Spotify existed?

How are university sports a paradigm of capitalism? The main attraction is unpaid labor, and only some sports charge the audience to attend.

Streaming is new (for Netflix) and they were successful when they were DVD-only, so who knows.
There are lots of shooters with civilians, just off the top of my head, the latest Deus Ex game. You can literally mow down a whole street of people.
Maybe it's not technically a "military" shooter, but whatever.
