Sure maybe for something simpler back in the SNES days. Nowadays it doesn't make sense to reinvent the wheel especially with the cost of game design (unless its indie and nothing AAA, etc) I'd rather have the team focus on making a good game and not spend years making an engine.
Sure there might be some reason to build an engine from bottom up if its something specific or other reasons but if a team can just focus on their design and creation of their game, as a consumer, I would rather have the developers focus on making a good game.
Just a question, what prevents someone from doing the same thing but with a different site? Isn't anyone free to do this? Maybe MojoKid just likes that site and is that a problem?
And it worked well for them, they're making a lot more money making games for mobile and online games then their current offerings. That's why they're currently restructuring to focus on that.

Apps crash randomly, slow and apps don't resume from being minimized are the common issues I have on my nexus 4. I don't blame them for staying on kitkat at the moment.
Eh they do have competition and it's bigger than AMD, it's ARMs and that is who Intel is competing and changed their business plan because of them otherwise Intel could care less about mobile
Ehh Closed source isn't the subject of this article so I don't get why you're being defensive just because someone said something about Firefox or something open source related.
Most times I only get 3g where I live and drive around, figure out how to get 4G or higher and more reliable in remote places before figuring out how to make things faster
