After serious consideration by both men and their company boards, a merger was announced between Wendy's and Tim Hortons in 1995. This was a $425-million U.S. deal that left Ron Joyce the biggest shareholder of the third-largest hamburger chain in the United States. It also made Tim Hortons a division of the U.S.-based Wendy's chain. The merger left Tim Hortons a wholly owned subsidiary of Wendy's, although the two do retain separate management. As part of the deal, Tim Donut Ltd. was given 13.5% of Wendy's stock, worth about $300 million U.S., and Wendy's assumed $125 million U.S. of Tim Hortons' debt. In the end, the total deal was worth about $580 million Canadian.

So, although Timmy's is now owned by Wendy's, Ron Joyce (the Hamilton cop who bought Tim Horton's after Tim's death in '74) is the majority shareholder of Wendy's... which means that Timmy's is owned by an american company that is owned by a Canuck... heh

I recognize this, my boss is one of them... if the solution doesn't fit into one of the formulas he knows, reinstall the OS... he had 3 AD/DNS servers on a network of less that 30 machines (including printers and other such network devices), then he removed one without demoting it or removing it from the update tree... 8 weeks later we had to pull a 12 hour shift trying to fix the DNS issues caused by this... I had told him after two weeks that something was wrong with DNS, but was unaware of the role being played by the removed server... the only way we got it fixed was 4 hours on the phone with microsoft, with them netmeeting'd into the server in question...

But right in line with how things have been going over the last couple of centuries. The revolutionary war against brittain was fought using geurilla tactics learned from the native tribes. The brittish cried foul, saying that the yankees were'nt fighting "fair". We fast forward to 'nam, where the VC would hit and fade, hit and fade... hit and fade. This tactic has the advantage of continually reducing both enemy numbers and moralle. America cried foul, said the VC weren't fighting fair, took their ball and went home. Now the same thing is happening, a smaller, weaker enemy is using guerrila warfare to constantly harrass a larger and better equipped force. The tactic works, and always has worked.
