I like the command line, I prefer the command line, and I know how to use the command line.... and still I have never ever, not even once,/needed/ to drop to a command line in Ubuntu...
Breaks your heart?? this is a time for rejoicing.... we're still Voodoo, with all of the bleeding edge developments that has made us great... but for all that time from when Rahul started the company until yesterday, the whole of Voodoo consisted of about 25 people... we were at a plateau of what a company our size could do, we didn't have the R&D resources necessary to get to the next level and grow the company without bastardizing our brand by coming out with a "budget" system... but now our R&D monies are coming from an 800 lb gorilla, but we're still doing the actual work... the biggest change is now we don't have to go outside our company to get the job done... Voodoo chassis instead of customized Lian Li chassis... Voodoo laptops instead of tweaked out Eurocom or Asus barebones... if you want a Voodoo, you're still going to be paying a premium on Voodoo quality and Voodo engineering.... I can't stress this point enough, we are still Voodoo.... but now Fight Club has corporate sponsorship... hehe
don't even joke about that man.... we do not build cookie cutter consumer garbage here and we never will...
here's the meat an potatoes of it as I understand it... HP needed a gaming division and buying us was cheaper than the R&D required to build one of their own... we needed capital to get some of our new designs off the ground.... so now HP has a gaming division (we are a somewhat seperate entity unto ourselves, under the greater umbrella of HP) that's immediately productive, and now we have a much greater resource base for our designs... we haven't been taken over, we've been integrated... from our side of this merger, it is simply allowing us greater freedom to bring our (and your) PC gaming dreams to life...
No.... at least for the time being our tech support is remaining in house... as are our production and service departments... we are now a division of HP, but we are retaining a good deal of our autonomy as we are technically classified as Research and Development...
What would happen if intel put as much energy and resources into bringing out the next generation of processor as it did trying to put the screws to AMD (et al)?? This is hot on the heels of the first time I ever saw an intel mac commecial on TV... dire tidings and dark omens indeed...
In the recent election of a new leader for the Parti Quebecios was primarily a phone in vote... the problem seems to have been with registration since there have already been reports of at least one family dog and at least one houseplant were registered as members of the party and voted by phone.... I'm not sure what kind of plant it was, but it's helped to elect a Quebec seperatist to a position of power... so I guess the best thing we can say about phone in votes is that there are still some bugs to work out....
ps. He's also openly homosexual and admitted to using cocaine in his youth.... gods bless this liberal paradise I call home... now if only we could elect a social democrat as our leader.... VOTE NDP!!
CSIS is like the CIA + the FBI as they provide both internal and external security for our country.... We have the only "secret" service that I know of that does both...
Virtually everything I can do, I can do better while stoned... Hel, I even program better when I'm f***ed up... sure, I have no medical background and don't know the proper terms for what it does, but here's my layman's guess based on observation of myself and others...
THC (and all her happy little friends) increase my hand-eye coordination, this has been noted through video gaming, I've always been a decent gamer, able to complete games that are able to hold my attention long enough.... but once I smoke a spliff, I turn into some sort of video game demi-god or somesuch.... this leads me to believe that THC increases communication within the brain, specifically in the corpus collosum (the LAN that connects the hemispheres of the brain)
THC increases my concentration.... when I'm baked, if I'm focused on a task (be it gaming, cleaning, writing, screwing, etc.) then it takes a significant ammount of prodding to get me out of my hyper-focused state... this is especially poignant when I am also listening to music.... thusly I think weed makes the other parts of my brain, those not being used for the current task, easily distractable, allowing the parts needed for the task at hand full access to my physical and mental resources...
And some things that seem to be universal.... pot allows for the free flow of ideas, just sit in on a joint session and listen to all the crazy notions that get bandied about.... pot increases interhuman connection, I haven't found a faster way to make friends with people that sitting in that green-tinged circle with some like-minded individuals...
hmmm... maybe as LSD breaks down the barriers between the conscious mind and the subonscious, THC breaks down the barrier between the aenimus and Jung's proposed Uber-Aenimus which in contemporary times has been re-named the collective unconscious... woah... this is some pretty good stuff *cough, cough*
I hate to burst everyone's bubble... but the Phantom is not silent.... merely very quiet... I work for Voodoo PC and we've started using the Phantom 500 in machines that need help in the noise department.... they only have one fan, and a good design with tons of surface area to bleed the heat... the problems are it needs to have room to dissipate that heat, probably at least an inch clearance on every side unless you want to have another fan aimed at the PSU....
the only really silent power supplies that I've seen come from Zalman in their TNN Series (Totally No Noise).... those cases are awesome, but building one will result in the builder being coated in thermal paste up to the elbow.... the 400W power supply is fanless, as is the entire system.... and the chassis is so heavy duty that you can't even hear the drives spin up.... plus it looks (and essentially is) a giant radiator...
...I had for the new series... tandem series that start during the klingon-romulan alliance but chronicle the war.... enough of these puny humans and their ideals of peace... lets get some serious space battles going... have one show entirely from the romulan POV, and one from the klingons...
I think you're being humourous... but I can't quite tell... just in case though, since someone has already replied as though you were serious, they're talking about the currently running BSG... it starts Edward James Olmos (for some reason), and the first lady from Independance Day...
since I've only seen two episodes of this new series so far, I haven't formed a real opinion of it yet... check back in a couple months...
I think the baldness caused the coolness... the goatee and the Defiant were also essential in curing DS9 of it's suckiness... just like the dominion wars cured the series of its "what can we turn the shapeshifter into this episode"ism...
Enterprise is also lacking, IMHO, a "freak" character... what I mean is the totally non-human character through whom we all learn more about ourselves... TOS had Spock (which means the vulcan thing was already done, as much as I like T'pol, she's not a freak)... TNG had Data (Worf's purpose was to introduce us to Klingon culture rather than act as a lens to view humanity through)... DS9 had Odo (who never did a great job of reflecting humanity)... Voyager tried to do it with 7 of 9, but really was just trying to add sex appeal and so I couldn't take her seriously as such...
Enterprise... hmm... neither Floxx nor T'pol seem to me to be anything but eye candy...
that said, I enjoyed what I saw of 3rd season enough to start making an effort to watch it in 4th season, which has just been getting better and better... the longer story arcs (while most likely just an attempt to draw people in) are great, and I think the series as a whole has near limitless potential...
You can pretend that these thoughts don't exist all you want. But they do exist. And you, like everyone else, have them.
No. I do not have these thoughts you speak of. In fact, I find those thoughts to be morally repugnant. Not, as you surmise, because I want to go along with current trends, but rather because I do believe that all beings are created equal.
Please, everyone here who does not think like this closed minded, hate filled near-human, respond here and prove the parent wrong... we do/not/ all think like racists.
Tolerance is not a 'social trend'. Intolerance is an outmoded thoughtform that is being rejected by rational, thinking people, and only embraced by reactionary non-thinkers.
Yes, and I have yet to see it recognize an on board video card... never... not once... if I'm lucky the mobo is new and I still have the driver disc that came with it...
worse still, an onboard NIC... then I can't even get the network up and running to go dig through the bowels of the intarweb for a driver which 2/3s of the time doesn't even have an XP version...
the only time I've ever installed an OS on two identacle PCs is when they were all bought on the purchase order... I've installed on more than 13 different mobos, each and every one of them with a completely different set of hardware...
and what's worse?? the people building the OS aren't the same people building the hardware like in your little macintosh monolith over there... I saw a PII 233 with a 5.25" disk drive in it!! the maximum possible number of permutations for mac hardware is miniscule when compared to the near infinite different possibilities for a PC...
under the same circumstances, the mac install/upgrade would be just as mind-stuntingly kludgey as our current options out here in the real world of PC land...
2. How do I sign up? When can I get a Gmail account?
We're currently only offering Gmail as part of a preview release and limited test. We don't have details on when Gmail will be made more widely available, as that depends in part on the results of the test. If you're interested in receiving updates on Gmail, submit your email address using the form at the bottom of this page.
ummmm... just because gmail invites have become more common than free iPods doesn't mean that it has gone live... has everyone forgotten that we're beta (gamma, maybe even delta) testing this service... ergo, no one should be relying on them as finding bugs like this is why we have gmail accounts...
Ye flipping gods....
/needed/ to drop to a command line in Ubuntu...
I like the command line, I prefer the command line, and I know how to use the command line.... and still I have never ever, not even once,
where do people get these ideas??

Could dark matter be the ley lines of the universe??
Because those probably aren't actually new moons or rings... maybe Hubble is seeing Dubble again... hehe sorry...
probably because NAFTA has made Mexico an even bigger hellhole
safely assume right now that he will die a virgin by the way
unless I..... uh, I mean 'he'... finds a geek chick who (despite not being much of a Trekker) still recognized the homage to General Chang...
Besides, the ending of SIASL was obvious and no one really dies
ummmm.... except for the main character, Michael, who gets blown into pieces by a shotgun wielding mob...

be very very careful what you wish for...
this had better be bloody spectacular by the way...
citizen: hello KGB^h^h^hFBI?? I think my neighbour is hiding diamonds^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^hWMDs in his firewood...
FBI agents come chop up all the firewood, find no WMDs, threaten the citizen with arrest for wasting their time, and leave...

citizen: well, I need my garden ploughed...
