Got my Apple ][+ in June and spent the summer learning to code in Applesoft BASIC. Learned most of it using the tutorial book that came with the computer. Checked out a couple of "101 BASIC Programs" type books from the library too.
Also, fixed bugs in a game I bought which was written in BASIC, The Tarturian http://www.mobygames.com/game/...
Well, if he can't handle the time change and getting up an hour earlier, what does he do when for some reason or another he has to get up earlier than normal? Like for an early appointment or something. Or if he has to stay up late and still get up at the same time the next morning?
You must not have kids...
It's not a question of who's the boss, it just makes it very difficult to get the kids to bed when it is still daylight outside. They whine, and say "But I'm not tired." In my house, they still go to bed, it just takes a little more effort:)
What is text? It's a binary code that a computer translates into graphical glyphs. Is it proprietary? Not any more.
To complicate matters further, there are ASCII text files, UTF-8 text files and Unicode text files (and of course EBCDIC on IBM mainframes). If you only have an ASCII text reader, you won't be able to read Unicode and you may not be able to read a UTF-8 file if it has characters in it that take more than one byte. So "plain text" doesn't really mean one thing anymore.
They've been very careful to maintain the separation...if you go to the iTunes marketing page or the iTunes store itself, the Apple logo is nowhere to be seen -- except on links to their main page or on computer equipment.
Actually, it's a lot of sources beyond sponsors. The TV networks pay bigtime for it...
That may be true, but the TV networks are buying it so they can in turn sell advertising, so in the end, it is the sponsors and the host government that are footing the bill.
I think he is saying that instead of working directly for his current employer, he should start a company and then get a contract to do work for his current employer through the company he starts.
Corruptible employees of said airlines or the owners of the company that maintains the airlines card information.
A bribe here, some blackmail there and viola, a fake card or worse.
So how is that any worse than what can happen today? There will always be someone to bribe to get what you want, no matter what system is in place.

Exactly what I was thinking. It kills me when I see a story like this on/. when they reject articles that actually have something to do with "news for nerds". Oh well, no one ever accused the editors of being rational.
Does anyone remember the original Choplifter! game on the Apple II+?? That had to be around 1982 or something. I had never seen anything like it on the Atari 2600 or other consoles. How about Captain Goodnight and the Islands of Fear? I think that game pushed the capabilities of the old Apple II to the limit.

Not to pick nits, but that error didn't come from ASP.Net, it is from classic ASP and is actually an ADO (data access) error.
Yeah, I completely agree with you. The original post I replied to was talking about how it wouldn't matter if someone could duplicate your engines parts because the duplicator's engine would have to be of a similar design in order to use them on it. I was just trying to point out that I don't think that is what they are claiming to be afraid of.
I think what they are talking about is other companies building parts for the engines and selling them cheaper. Say you can only get a fuel injector for a Dodge Durango from Dodge (Mopar). They want to prevent someone like Autozone from duplicating their fuel injector and selling it at a cheaper price.
KHTML is a fork of webkit, built by apple.

Yep
Holy crap.. #10,452.. when did you join?
Well, if that is surprising...

You are actually comparing installing a completely different operating system to typing in a different URL in a browser?!?

What do you do if you ever have to get up early for some reason?
Judging from posts further up the thread, I assumed he was in Phoenix. When it is 115 degrees outside, an electric bill of $300 is not uncommon.

What does that have to do with "gas-saving"? SUVs generally get bad gas mileage. That's the complaint, not how much pollution they generate.

It would be a lot less readable when you have complex nesting going on and the text isn't indented all nice for you.
At the bottom of the page you referenced it says, "Copyright © 2004 Apple Computer, Inc. All rights reserved." The title of the page is "Apple - iTunes".

I met a woman from Tennesee who's maiden name was Duck and she had a brother named Donald. I just couldn't believe his parents did that to him!

The text which reads "Front toward enemy" is raised, so you can feel which side is the front.

Right, but the manufacturers are CLAIMING that they will also have to give up proprietary "calibration codes". That's from the article.
