Since Outlook embeds Internet Explorer to display HTML email, I don't think they decided to allow scripts. I think they just didn't realize the problem with it and didn't disable it. Pretty stupid still. Of course, I don't know this for sure, just a guess.

No, you are not missing something. MSN Messenger does not support offline messages. The best you can do is send an email to an offline user or, if the user has it set up, you can send a text message to the offline user's pager or cell phone.

We use InstallShield at the company I work for. Just build your initial installation as an MSI (Windows Installer) package and either release subsequent MSI's to either install or upgrade or release a MSP which will patch the software that is already installed. You can try to figure out a "better" way, but really, Windows Installer is what pretty much every Windows user is used to.

System.Windows.Forms is just a class library that implements things like windows, buttons, treeviews, etc. From what I can tell, most of them are wrappers around the Win32 versions of the same thing. I know, for instance, the MS .Net TreeView control is a wrapper around the Win32 tree (not sure what it is called in Win32). If you were a VB6 programmer, this is definitely a step up in GUI capability. Not sure how it compares to Java's AWT or Swing.

They encoded their recordings as WMA files and wanted to share them. What's that? They can't! No one else can play their files because of the DRM in WMP9.

You don't HAVE to include DRM in the files you encode. It is an option that can be turned on or off in Windows Media Player.

There really are two different MS clients for the MSN Messenger service available for XP.

Windows Messenger comes with the OS. It doesn't have the little ad window at the bottom and has basic features.

MSN Messenger is downloadable from the MSN Messenger website. It has the ad window at the bottom and has more features like Alerts, forwarding of IMs to your mobile phone, etc.

If you install MSN Messenger on Windows XP, Windows Messenger is still there, you can run either client, but I don't think you can log in with both at the same time (at least not with the same ID).
