I have sympathy on these women. I work a major tradeshow every year and have seen just how bad these women have it. This last year, there was a "Booth babe" across the way from me. Around 3pm every day, booths would give out free alcohol. Around 3:15 she would have 10-15 men all trying to pick up on her at the same time. Literally. On the last full day of the show, the company she was working with threw a big party. I went to it and she was there. She was stuck at the entrance (near an ice sculpture people were taking shots out of) the entire time. She had even more drunk men hitting on her. By 10pm, she looked sad and forlorn, but no one seemed to notice. I went up and talked to her. I told her how I had seen her there all week, being slobbered on by disgusting men, and that I was sorry that she was treated so poorly. After apologizing, she got a huge smile on her face. It literally turned her entire night around. At that point (to show that I was genuine, and not just making a pass at her), I told her to have a goodnight and that I'd see her the next day at the show. The rest of the night she was all smiles.
These women may be pretty, but she was quite smart and didn't like being recognized only for her looks. She was doing this to earn extra money for school, and she had a real job in addition to this side gig. I imagine she is absolutely terrified to work around engineers now, because she is afraid that she will encounter the same treatment in the real world.
About a month or two ago, my brother's email account was taken over. The account is on a private domain that no one has ever heard of. Its only used for family email. Turns out he used that account to create his linked in account. I wouldn't be surprised if that is how they managed to compromise his (mostly) unused email account.
Comments above indicate that the passwords are about 7 months old. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. But it had my 10 year old password in it.
They definitely had my linked in password. I was one of the first 500 or so users on linked in, and I haven't changed my password since I Created the account. I just changed it now...
This is true, most people do not know how to change those kinds of settings. And at some corporations, they do not allow you to change the settings anyway. It is their way or the highway.
I agree, I don't think an x86 version of the transformer will take off. But you never know. There are certainly times when I wish that my tablet were more suited for development work. I could easily write code on a tablet, and I just need a light weight compiler to do sanity checks on my code. But I'd never give up my desktop monitor for development regardless. For some things you need a lot of screen real estate, and for others just a small and simple UI you can keep in your pocket.
I don't know if you're trying to troll everyone but... you do know that you can turn off automatic updates right? My preferred setting is "Download and Notify me, but do not install" mode. That way when you're ready to do the update, you don't have to wait for the download. But I will tell you from my personal experience (having a Dell streak [free gift from Dell to get my work to buy them, they suck], an HP Touchpad, iPad 1, iPad 3, and an Asus Transformer) that Android doesn't have very good battery life with their tablets. I'm not sure why. The HP Touchpad is champ, in my experience. That is followed by the iPad, the Asus Transformer, and finally the Dell streak. Don't get me wrong, I like Android. The only reason I ditched my Transformer and picked up the iPad 3 was screen resolution. I use the device for RDP and its much easier to do that at 1600x1200 than 1024x768. I don't think that it has anything to do with battery life either, because the Touchpad had crappy life w/ ICS as well. Better than Honeycomb, but not as good as WebOS
Costco has 7" Samsungs w/ ICS for about $200. I'm seriously tempted to pick one up to use w/ my ODB-II and other car related bluetooth devices.
I have never seen a crazed methamphetamine user (I am sure they exist, I have just never seen one), but I have seen a house burn to the ground after the byproducts of methamphetamine production caught fire.
I had a roommate in college who used to be a very heavy meth user. He quit because he started becoming very paranoid and was beginning to hallucinate. It got to the point where he literally thought everyone was out to kill him, and he was afraid that he was going to have to start killing people to save his life. I'm not sure how he realized it was the drugs, or how he managed to stop, but I would be very willing to bet that he was quite dangerous during that time.
LOL! I Lived in Venezuela for a year and I don't believe that this is to prevent street crime. When I lived there, it was dangerous to ride a nice bike in certain areas because street criminals would stab you and take your bike. They wouldn't ask, they would just take it before you had the chance to do anything. Was that common? No. But it happened. I think this has more to do with keeping Hugo in command, especially with his failing health. Most people there can't afford guns, or ammo. They have armed security guards at Wendy's. They give them a shotgun with a couple of shells, or an old beat-up revolver with just a couple of bullets. Why? Because they don't want the guards selling the guns/ammo for cash.
I was there for the infamous 11 de Abril, in 2002 when Hugo was temporarily replaced in a military coup. I don't think he has forgotten that day, and never will.
HTC is starting to use adhesive free boxes that are very cleverly folded by a machine. They even come with a tab that you pull inside the box that allows you to easily break it down without fuss. I am rather a big fan.
Except that the Chinese government probably would just require Google use their signed certificate in China. Then they can MITM Google's servers anyway.
To be fair, I have been on the receiving end of this. At my last company, I interviewed people who were fresh out of school, who wanted to make $90,000 a year as a software person. Around here, the cost of living is low enough that it would be equivalent to making about $150,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area. These aren't Bay Area people. They are local students, who went to a university with an average engineering program. Some people DO have insane expectations. I do agree, however, that there are plenty of qualified people that are overlooked because they don't fit the mold exactly. I can't tell you how many people my boss turned down because he wanted someone with an exact set of skills. The industry that company in is such a small niche that maybe 5% of all software people have the skills that he wanted. He was absolutely unwilling to take a risk with anyone, no matter how experienced they were.
As other people have pointed out, his battery life is a problem with him, not the device! Either he has some mod, or other piece of software on there that is sucking up all the juice, or he is using the device constantly. He should be able to get a good 12+ hours out of the device with moderate to heavy use (not tethering).
If your droid is only lasting you 6 hours, you need to change your mod. There are kernel mods, CPU clocking mods, and all sorts of other things you can do to save battery. My Evo 3D can go for about 36 hours w/ moderate use, as long as its not tethering. So, you either are using your phone constantly, or you have a bad mod on there!
Well then your experience with Linux.org is much better than my experience, or the experience of past employers. People at my company submitted a bug for HID devices in Linux kernel 2.6.10, 2.6.13, 2.6.17, and oh it wasn't until 2.6.23 or so that they actually implemented the fix, and then gave someone credit for it. I cant tell you how many times i had to keep patching the exact same bug because no one at Linux.org cared about USB HID. It was the most asenine thing I had ever seen. It was a one line fix, that was clearly correct. The problem was someone sleeping with a spinlock in the kernel.
Probably due to the fact that a 4 and 5 axis milling machine would be amazing for creating the physics package of a nuclear warhead? At least that would be my guess. I mean you wouldn't be able to do much with a 2 axis machine... and there are other things you could undoubtedly create with such a milling machine, besides nuclear bombs. I'm sure you could shape other materials into useful items for war.
You're ridiculous. Creationists, in general, do not deny that evolution occurs in the world. They do not believe that men evolved from apes, or other less intelligent life forms. Granted, there are creationists that take it to the extreme and try to deny all evolution, but most of them just believe that humankind was created, not evolved.
I'm in my low 30's, and bought my first nice suit about 6 years ago! I don't think I could have made a better decision! I still write code, but there is something about executives that makes them go wild for a young handsome man in a suit! And I don't mean that in a naughty way. I've been sent all over to meet important people for my employer because I have a nice suit. Nothing says valuable to a boss like the guy who can talk to the customer, and still get the job done! I hope you get a lot of use out your suit, it's totally worth it!
Then the person you were sitting next to didn't have their display properly configured. Were you both running 1080P? Because that's all the ViewSonic does, and the Dell will definitely look blurry at such a low resolution! AFAIK, only Dell and Apple sell displays with a resolution greater than 1080P. (or 1920x1200 if you prefer 16x10)
The quality isn't what you want? What monitor has better picture quality? HOnestly? I've seen the 27" Apple Cinema displays, I used to work with them daily. They aren't any better than the Dell picture-wise. And the Apple display only has one input!
I just recently started working for a new company that gives me a hardware budget that I can use to buy any hardware I want. I used the money to buy a 27" Dell Display at 2556x1440 (or whatever it actually is), and its the best decision I've ever made. Yes it consumed most of my budget for the year, but it is so wonderful to have so much useable space on the same screen. I have a second display, which is almost completely unneeded anymore. It gets used rarely. I wish that I would have gone to the massive 27" forever ago.
So you found three sources that recommend the goto in one specific instance? And the goto is only needed in one of those three places, the kernel driver. And even then they say that the goto can get overly complicated and hard to maintain quickly.
Federal law makes it illegal to bring a loaded weapon to the airport for any reason, unless you are law enforcement personnel on duty, and ordered to go to the airport. The law has been in place for some time. It doesn't matter if they post that sign or not, they can still arrest you for bringing a loaded or concealed (on your person, not your luggage) firearm to the airport. I think they started posting those signs as a courtesy for state laws. Just to remind people that you should not do so.
Incorrect. There is no federal law that bans bringing firearms to airports, that's badly misinformed FUD you're peddling. Firearms control in the general access of airports is left to the state-specific laws; any firearms past the posted security checkpoints can happen with either a) you being law enforcement with special dispensation or b) you check your firearm in the luggage according to FEDERAL law and some airlines' regulations.
Gee. There are federal laws telling citizens how they can fly on a plane with their firearms but, according to you, they can be arrested simply for showing up to the airport?
As to you living in Florida, that's fine -- each state has their own firearms laws in general, but you're so wrong you're not even wrong when it comes to the federal firearms law.
I said loaded weapon. I emphasized it for you again. You cannot, by federal law, bring a loaded weapon to the airport. Just walking in to the terminal building of any airport with a loaded gun is a violation. It doesn't matter where you have it, whether it is your luggage, or on your person. Yes you can travel via airplane with a firearm but it cannot be loaded. Please see 49 CFR 1540.111. I'll even provide you a link, so you don't even have to use Google:
http://law.justia.com/cfr/title49/49-9.1.3.5.8.2.10.6.html
That's actually not true, in this particular case. At least, not to my knowledge. I live in Florida, and the laws here are the same about having to post a sign barring concealed weapons, etc. However, Federal law makes it illegal to bring a loaded weapon to the airport for any reason, unless you are law enforcement personnel on duty, and ordered to go to the airport. The law has been in place for some time. It doesn't matter if they post that sign or not, they can still arrest you for bringing a loaded or concealed (on your person, not your luggage) firearm to the airport. I think they started posting those signs as a courtesy for state laws. Just to remind people that you should not do so.
In Florida you can't bring a concealed weapon to any hospital, government building, school (private or public), and a few other places as well. In the case of schools, you cannot even have one concealed in your car in the parking lot without the permission of the school. Personally, I feel like the faculty of a university ought to be able to bring stun guns and other "non-lethal" weapons, but they cannot. Anyway, this is all off topic!
Google should post an open-ended problem. Those with the best solution get in for free, the worse your solution, the higher your cost. If you invent a one-of-a-kind, genius solution, Google hires you.
How many times are you going to post the same comment in the same thread? And why are people modding both comments up?
