The standard profiling method is to build with -profile (I think) and run gprof on the profile data file running the executable generates.
At least, that's how I seem to remember it.
Mmm-hmm.
RPM hell was the driving force behind my switching from RedHat 5.9 to Debian potato long ago.:)
Go with debian, apt/dpkg never seems to mess up like that for me.
I've never had DLL hell in the three years I've been using Linux.
(Debian unstable the entire time, from potato to woody to sid)
(Not to be a knee-jerk linux zealot here; I never had DLL hell in the half a year I ran FreeBSD, either.:))
For that matter, I've never had problems with DLL hell on my Win98 box, either. Just lucky, I guess...
Been listening to 2112 a bit much lately, have we?:)
Seriously, though, I'm with you on that. I don't like using an OS that discourages me from messing with it.
...for that matter, I like being able to mess with all of my stuff.
Seriously, though, don't knock the psychological value of dropping an Ornithopter down. Your opponent will laugh so hard that he won't notice the killer combo you're setting up.:)
Already have one.:)
I love my inspiron8k - 900MHz P3, GF2Go with 32M RAM, 15" UXGA display (native resolution 1600x1200) 320M RAM, 20G HD, dvd drive, two batteries (almost never use floppy, heh) - only thing I plan on changing in the near future is adding some more RAM and maybe a new HD. Great machine, even has a decent keyboard.
Heh, it's not just that...my old laptop, a model N30W from the now defunct Fountain Technologies, had a socketed card too.
Dell sold those as the Inspiron 5000e, fwiw.
I have an Inspiron 8k. The batteries are actually pretty damn small, considering the amount of life I get out of 'em.
s/(eight)/$1 hundred/i;
:)

I thought it was 'Windows, Icons, Mouse, Pointer.'
Right you are. I stand corrected.
It actually *is* an acronym...Practical Extraction and Reporting Language.
and the price goes even higher.
I'd say that price is still a more important factor; I play UT on my laptop (15" UXGA panel) all the time, and I don't have any blurring problems.
Third it.
People don't seem to mind VOLUNTARILY showing ads, if they're for things they approve of.
I don't get it.
Isn't obj-prelink somewhat GCC-specific?
It's pining for the fjords!
Mmm-hmm. :)

Chilliware sells software that lets you run ASP on Linux.

IBM laptops tend to have terrible graphics cards, among other issues.
Gah, beat me to it...
:)

Quick note: ISO9660 doesn't handle FSes of that size very well. UDF is the standard for DVD-ROMs, and I've seen CDs that use it as well.
...who reflexively twitched at the naming of FEMA?
Too much Deus Ex, I guess...
What about on my 89?
:)
Er...what model are you talking about?
Already have one. :)

On my inspiron 8k, the video chip and stuff seem to be on a socketed card.
Er. I haven't played Exile yet.
It arrives tomorrow, though.
