A similar system was installed at one of my company's buildings 4 years ago. "Similar" because it requires all riders to enter their floor number, then groups them together as efficiently as possible. The system does lack the predictive functionality of this new "smart elevator".
Reactions to the elevators have been a lot different than the Marriott Marquis Times Square; people love the elevators and everyone is convinced that they are much faster.
Most, if not all, of the arguments that I've seen so far against case insensitivity have relied on a lack of case preservation as well. The two aren't tied together.
Would the arguments against case sensitivity still apply if case was preserved? This would allow you to still name 'constants' in ALL_CAPS, have classnames start with a capital letter, and variable, package and method names start with a lowercase letter and have interCaps.
Even if these organizations don't need technical help, volunteer your time and encourage friends/coworkers to join you. It won't (or at least, it shouldn't) kill you to walk away from the computer world for a few hours a week.
Will Final Cut (preferably Express) allow me to burn existing MPEG-2s to DVD? I can export MPEG-2 files from my ReplayTV but can't seem to burn them onto my SuperDrive without first converting them to DV and then using iDVD.
Setting your Home Page to a pipe-delimited list of URLs accomplishes this.
eg. A Home Page of "http://slashdot.org/|http://www.google.com/" would result in two tabs with those URLs loaded into them.
Now we've also learned how to misspell 'mispell' in an interesting way.

Then again, Apple and MS have one product that infuriates me--both of them call their remote-control app Remote Desktop.

m oteintro.mspx
Just look at the paths to the applications on their web servers:
Apple:
Microsoft:/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/re
Doesn't that just encompass the whole difference between Apple and Microsoft?

> It's not that I don't get enough sleep (I go to bed at night when I get sleepy), but my body tends to want a day longer than 24 hours
Maybe you should just join the NASA Mars team, who "have adopted a Mars schedule, coordinating their waking and sleeping patterns with Martian days, which are nearly 40 minutes longer than those on Earth."
> Anyone know when the first "season" is coming out on DVD?
Since I RTFA, I saw that:
> Three shows never aired on Fox but will likely be featured on the series' DVD release, due out in December.

Look for non-profit organizations such as the local Food Bank, the American Heart Association, the Red Cross, or Junior Achievement.
