    it also depends on what vodka you are drinking. If it comes in a plastic bottle, expect to get sick. Good vodka is relatively free of the other little organic molecules that cause most of your problems.

    Of course, if you're drinking enough of it then your problem is dehydration. If you have a pain in your side and/or your urine isn't colorless, then your probably need to drink more water, whether you've been drinking alcohol or not.

    No, you can process methanol in the small amounts that you get it in liquor. Unfortuanetely, it metabolizes to formaldehyde and formic acid, which are among the major factors in hangovers.

    and once you get to the emergency room, they will treat you for methanol poisoning of course. The treatment for methanol poisoning is actually 'ethanol therapy', which means getting you really drunk on normal ethanol until the methanol is gone

    Actually, vodka shouldn't give you hangovers. You see, it's ethanol that gets you drunk and methanol that gives you a hangover. Vodka contains little or no methanol.

    I had a pretty easy time switching too.

    If you're paranoid that it will break something, use quickpkg to make a package of your existing install first, and build a binary package of xorg using emerge -b, so you can switch back and forth until you are satisfied.

    Keep in mind that you don't have to reproduce yourself to have reproductive success. The best way is through supporting family members, but benefiting the community can also be a good stratagy, and anything that benefits the species will do. In some cultures it is common for homosexuals to become priests, and I'm not just talking about Catholics here.

    If we were to evaluate Mr. Turing's reproductive success, we would probably consider it very high; certainly he helped save the lives of many of his countrymen, with whom he had much genetic commonality.

    yah, main website has to be windoze since, iirc, they have a couple of asp clowns doing the site. the one real coder they have is busy doing more interesting stuff.

    the forums server is probably not really taken care of by any one in particular, and there has to be a big chain of "who's fixing this?" before anything happens

    Communism is not inherently evil
    Do not use the word as such
    Its just been done very badly historically
    Democracy has never fared well historically either
    (and I hope you'll pass over the fact that I'm comparing a Political system to an Economic system)
    but everyone here lives in their little "my government is omnibenevolent" world

    back to the subject at hand:
    I agree. Unix is not an OS.
    Unix is a group of Operating Systems.
    Solaris, Tru64, AIX, OpenBSD, NeXTStep,
    these and many others are all Unixen.

    Currect me if I'm wrong here.
    Basic Unix history tells us:
    *Some guys at AT&T wrote Unix
    *Some guys at Berkely added and altered parts of it
    *Some guys at Berkely realized that a lot of it had been rewritten, rewrote the rest, and declared it as being entirely University of California property
    *Meanwhile there are other systems based on Unix System 5 and such
    *Lots of cross-pollination happens

    Anyway, my point is
    *BSD itself is a complete rewrite of Unix*

    therefore, there is no reason Linux cannot be considered a complete rewrite of Unix
    (though my system has a lot of bsd code in it)

    Enlightenment is not the default window manager
    There is no default window manager for gnome currently

    The helix distribution comes with SawFish.
    This is really user-friendly because sawfish is easy to use and integrated with the control center

    I myself like the enlightenment iconbox and pager and am willing to sacrifice a little time to configure it.

    Depending on what you are doing, Linux is stable with 4MB of memory. NT is only that stable if you have more memory than you ever use.
