Linux is getting these "filesystem optimizations" in 2004, and I remember windows 98 shipped with defrag with "intel optimizers" feature in it that rearranged files on the disk for faster access (after analyzing startup patterns of the apps). And they:ve had this for how long now? Windows 98 was out somewhere around 1998, I would imagine.

mspaint starts one fucking hell of a lot faster than gimp.
*and* its available on every system, so in case I need to take screenshots of some default windows installation, I know mspaint will be available, and gimp WILL NOT BE.
I run Windows. Gimp on Windows looks fucking horrible. That, and I dislike GIMP interface, which didnt change at all, from looking at the screenshots.
So, back to using photoshop for me. There's only 2 types of image work I do, a quick screenshot that I paste in mspaint and save as png, or something that will take some time, and I use photoshop for that.
Sorry, but there's not a single Linux program that Windows users are itching for. Not one. May I suggest putting your programming resources into improving those pieces of shit that currently make up the vast majority of Linux apps? Maybe one day, you too can have a decent web browser!

I was under impression combing was about the interlaced lines. No? The capture stuff is the generic bt878a "fusion" with btwincap drivers off sourceforge. I dont see this effect on s-video source (Not as badly, anyway). I guess short of getting a new tuner with s-video out, I have no other choice about fixing this? I've scanned through bt878 technical docs and there is nothing mentioned about "combing filter" so I guess it isnt implemented in hardware.
