Cell phones are highly regulated. As are TVs, at least in the tuners. Not a very good example of no regulation.

Just imagine that Nokia decided to come out with a phone for back country use that had 10x the transmit strength of a standard cell phone. This phone, when used in a city would cause the entire city's cell network to be unusable on the frequency the phone was running on. This is why the FCC regulates the airwaves. This is important and useful regulation.

Well, the specific part they are complaining about there I just took as a needed peice of science fiction to bring about the events in the book. Much like the wind in the Martian that would never be strong enough to tip the rocket over, but yet was later described in the book as not enough to worry about an aeroshell.

Sometimes things have to happen in a certain way to have any story at all. I didn't consider the physics of the moon break up, but I can see that if something were to break up the moon, it would cause small chunks to fall on the Earth. It is interesting though to see some of the math behind why it is just not possible.

    Who shut down the government?

Politics is the art of negotiating. Refusing to negotiate, or even meet with the other side shut down the government. The only person who wouldn't work with the other side was Obama, and funny, but when he finally negotiated with them, the budget was signed that day. Interesting how that works, huh?

Isn't bigotry the practice of reducing people to only a group to which they belong, then saying things apply to them as they apply to the group?

It seems the above statement pretty well reflects true bigotry. A trans person will be elected when people stop worrying about what they are, and stand behind the person for who they are, not a single group they belong to. Why is it so important that a person belong to a group for you to support them?

Ah, yes. The new liberal mantra: If you didn't vote for Hillary, you're racist, misogynist, sexist, xenophobic...

Mocking crippled people, questioning a judge's impartiality based on his ethnicity, urging his followers to violently deal with protestors (and then he'd pay the lawsuit), bragging about assaulting women, the list goes on and on for Trump's publicly recorded abuse and vitriol, during the campaign and continuing until the present.

Only one of those things is even racist, misogynist, sexist, or xenophobic. Also, it is false. He bragged, in private, about women letting him grab them. There is no assault involved when a woman willingly lets you grab them. Is this even any worse than Bill Clinton using the Oval Office to commit rape?

Since pure Democracy leads to tyranny of the majority, it is wonderful that the founding fathers had the great forsight to prevent the majority from ruling minorities and leading to worse racism than we even see now!

What he was asked and answered was about an immigration database, which already exists. When directly asked about the Muslim database, he said he wouldn't rule it out. As for the first, I would wonder which portion they would want to gut. Freedom of speech seems to be something that the Left has wanted to gut recently, while the right seems to want to make Christianity a national religion, which would gut freedom of religion. I think only Trump wants to remove the freedoms of the press though, because he doesn't like what they have to say, and feels that slander/libel laws aren't enough...for some unspecified reason.

I personally want to maintain all of the Constitution and Bill of Rights; even to the point that I think the federal government is too powerful, and we need to return to a state of independant states as the Constitution calls for. Perhaps this makes me unusual, but that is me.
