Don't get me started on the fact that the FBI conveniently released all this damaging information as a Friday-Before-Holiday news avoidance dump.

Personally, I look at that as giving the media all the time it needs to go through the information before Tuesday.

I wonder when the State Department is going to release Hillary's training records to show she took the training.

  8. FYI, this person you responded to is the same guy who calls anyone trying to advance the state of the art in space, "space nutters".

He is a troll that honestly believes that the laws of physics are all known and exactly perfect, and that there is no chance of any human ever traveling to Mars or farther. Trying to have a civil discussion about these things will just get him calling you a space nutter for not giving up on ever improving the state of the art.

In fact, every post I have seen him make in response to this article has been of a mocking sarcastic type meant to make people who try to improve on science look like fools, because he thinks that there are people who honestly think we are right around the corner from "antimatter drives" and "EMdrive powered rockets".

  9. Um, it would take one hell of an explosion to destroy a launch pad. It will be fixed, likely with only replacing the grating that sits under the rocket and the tower that fuels the rockets. The pads are designed to deal with exploding rockets.

In all seriousness, how did you zoom in enough to see the sparks you are mentioning, I don't see anything in the frame before the conflagration obscures everything. By how fast that bird moves between frames, I am guessing that the video has an extremely low frame rate. That bird looked like it flew 100ft or so in the span of a frame.

As far as I understand it, none of those went back to prior tax years. This is going back to prior years, and requiring a SINGLE company to pay back taxes. Apple is not the only incorporated entity in Ireland that was subject to the lower taxes, so why are they being singled out? It is because they have the huge cash reserve which has been previously reported.

If this is the case, shouldn't the EU be setting a EU wide tax rate for all corporations? Ireland isn't the only country giving companies tax breaks, there are other ones occuring all over. Also, if the EU is going to change the tax rate retroactively, why is only Apple being asked to pay up, when there are many more corporations that paid the lower rate?

Um, except no, they broke no tax laws. Taxes are based on profits, if you move profits by "buying" something from another company, you no longer have those profits to be taxed on. This is the way all taxes based on profit work. Utilizing something that nearly every company uses isn't illegal, as there is no law against it. If they are going to make a huge deal out of this, why don't they do the same to all corporations that use these methods? They are using Apple because Apple is holding onto more cash than many governments in the EU have.

I don't like Apple, but when every other company does this, you have to look at why Apple specifically is being targetted for something that has been happening for 100s of years.

The guy with a binary name is saying we will never ever in the life of the human race be able to even go as far as alpha centauri. This is not a valid statement, as there are ways that it could be done, it would just be a slow trip with current technology. There are no physical laws that say we can't do it. It is a financial issue preventing the possibility. If the human race put forth the effort, it is perfectly doable.

The ship of course would have to be built in orbit, you couldn't lift something that large. This would allow building rockets to move the material, or you would have to do some kind of asteroid capture mission and use that for material to build from.
