Look at the history of government funding solar power in America...any scandals come to mind?
Ok then what we need is a solar X Prize. It seemed to work well for space so why not. We need to get small and mid size companies competing for a prize that is funded by the department of energy. Also there should be some stipulation that requires the equipment to be made in America. Surely we have some smart people in this country that can make such a thing happen.
A message for the nanny state and it's Mafiaa backers: You need us more than we need you. You want to impose draconian measures to ensure protection of your IP but there will come a day when we are not interested in your property.
Everyone seems to be forgetting the best reason for us to get off this rock. So far we are a unique species in this universe. Perhaps one day someone will prove us different however for the time being we as a species (not a bunch of warring countries trying to best each other at this or that) need to focus on getting off of this rock before another big one comes along and wipes us out. This is why leaders need to put aside our differences and work together for the greater good.
At this point I think MJ is more of a state issue than a national one. In spite of reality that MJ use is NOT the big bad gateway that some uninformed people think it is I doubt congress will ever leagalize and regulate/tax. Even though the country is fKKng poor AND shit is not going our way AND tax money from this would be a cash cow there are not enough people in power to stand up and make it happen. On the other hand we have already seen that states can do a fairly good job at regulating and decriminalizing it. Personally I'd rather my tax dollars be spent on busting hard drug users (meth coke crack) instead of MJ users. That just seems like common sense to me.
Maybe the so called "researchers" (MAFIAA research department) need to leave that sh!t alone and respect my privacy. I looked into using Skype for Video conferencing but their application was incredibly intrusive.
TSA: We've all known Tennessee is a popular site for interstate terrorism forsome time now so we decided that would be the first place to deploy the VIPR system.
ME: WTF are you that stupid. Don't you know there is a drug/border war going on in Arizona (and other states but Arizona has got it bad). One of the cops in that National Geo show (Border Wars) pretty much said if they (smugglers, drug runners etc) get to the highway they are pretty much gone. Do ya think MAYBE this VIPR program might actually help down there. Someone needs to smack some sense into the head of the TSA.
I like his IRS plan too but why is any of ths news for nerds. I hate to be an "on topic" nazi but seriously there is too much off topic stuff going on here. Perhaps we need a forum for this.
You'd think that Italian MEPs would have better things to worry about right now, like not being able to borrow money if it wasn't for ECB and possibly not being able to pay their debts.
But no, that c.nt wants to have a way to let the government to spy on everyone.
Third that. I don't think this asshole has any clue as to how much data needs to be analyzed if (for some f@cling miracle) this becomes a law. They don't even need this black box thing because Anonymous is already taking down these websites and exposing the members user names.
Both very good points but I don't think our species is going to fail. Eventually our governments will stop fighting wars and look for new ways to collaborate. A permanent place in space is such a huge endeavor that no one nation can hope to accomplish that alone.
She looks pretty good (or at least her face does per the link above). Certainly she looks to be around early thirty something so why the fuss. Hollywood is all about appearances so she should get by just fine. What's the big f%^king deal? Too much drama in that town.
You're joking right? Why is this news for nerds. I could care less if some over the hill drama queen is suing Amazon for posting her age. Per the submission, all of hollywood is built on lies.
First, please don't link an article from behind a paywall. I'm sure it's been said before but it's quite annoying.
Some of the proposals were pretty far out, such as Joseph Breeden's concept for an engine-less starship (propelled using a gravity slingshot on a near-sun trajectory)
Since the actual site was scarce on details I'm wondering how this guy expects to get to the sun (much less escape earths' atmosphere) without an engine. This is a great idea but I still think it's better to figure out how to make a permanent space station in earth's orbit. We are so far behind a starship right now that we (usa) can't even get to our own space station without someone else helping us. In general I think the human race has quite a while before we are mature enough to start exploring the galaxy.
Coming any minute for the way they treated him and seizure of non related materials. Someone forgot to tell the DA that when an Apple employee leaves a prototype phone in a bar or resturant it's usually just to hype the newest Idevice.
And why is it a congressional issue? I think those lazy bastards have some other more pressing issues to look into... like how to get America working again.
It won't be a complete competitor with iToons unless it requires you to install the Google Music Player, the Google Video Player, and grabs all the file associations in your system.
Lets not forget automatically loading programs on startup even though you specifically disabled them. OOO and also constantly pestering you to download the latest version of your worthless browser every time there is an update. Yeah @$%#%$^ you Apple.
That's really not a building to building kind of weapon and I'm sure the army and marines have better tools for that. I was mostly commenting on the effectiveness of that weapons platform VS. the squishy ball with the 32 or so sensors mounted to it. The previous poster made some allusion to it's use as a tool for the military and I was just pointing out that they had a better tool for such things. RE: the size of the weapon I think we are talking about two different things. The one I saw on Futureweapons is the size of a rifle but has 6 chambers for various grenades, a micro uav and an IR flare. It's a damn fine weapon.
So what part of disobeying the government rule and doing what this law forbids is NOT defiant? Eventually the government will learn to stop F$%# ing with its' people and stop this stupid crap.
Regarding urban combat you don't want that toy. You want the M32 which can shoot 40mm grenade shells, a video camera and an infrared flare. This thing can put 6 40mm grenades on target in less than 10 seconds. Check it out http://youtu.be/aX-99a1JCc4

Google's annual profit is bigger than the recording industry's entire revenue
You're absolutely right. The MAFIA can't outspend Google on this one.

Duck... here come the grammer nazi's.

Ok I conceed, they are nerd worthy departments.
Why should the people of North Dakota pay for tsunami monitoring for California?
Especially because they know when the big one hits they are gonna have some prime beachfront property when the big one hits.
I had to lmao when I saw this. Definitely a lot of plus 1 funny comments in here.

Yeah this is something that should have been modded down in the firehose.
LMAO so true as he obviously doesn't have a f#cking clue what the hell he is talking about.
Second that!

Defiant to the end
