The housing market didn't create a huge influx of IT jobs. It created a bunch of bankers, loan officers, mortgage advisers, home inspectors, construction jobs, processors (the paperwork kind) and the supporting IT jobs are a very very small part.
Look at it this way. A company sells a service that can function under most normal circumstances much like cellular phone which has problems during a disaster. Everyone picks up the phone at the same time and the network grinds to a halt. Now let's say a new function will give everyone free calls if you leave it on all the time. So now we have a problem.
I was given the job of recovering data on a PC whose owner had passed away. I booted up his machine which logged into AOL automatically where I was IM'd by a friend of his. Let's just say what I found on this guy's machine made me not want to touch he keyboard too long nor talk to his friends. I just told him that he passed away suddenly and I was asked by his brother to find any pics or data needed for his estate or as I like to call it, the truth. Thankfully nothing illegal was on the drive but I'm sure the deceased rather not have someone finding out what he was into in life.
And so we are witness to the start of the great liquidation sale of the US. It's been going on for years but now we see program after program get closed, slashed, reduced and buried. Is Rome burning yet?
What do I do with the Zip drive I have or the HP scanner with no power adapter? Or the broken 3 & 1 HP Officethingamabob. I have old old old HDDs that will not work a plain DVD Rom drive and that Radio Shack mouse scanner thingy. All of which will never ever be used. I keep my junk and you know what, my kids will probably just toss it when I die or if I have to move, it will get tossed then.
I still marvel on how HR got us into this salaried mindset. More so now that I've been contracting for years now. If I work 41 hours I expect to be paid 41 hours and not comp time. Overtime pay can be milked so HR comes up w/ salaried pay which means you work more and don't get anything for it. Not extra pay nor overtime. How they hell did they do that?
Yes, the wonders are an even more expensive piece of software. That's got to be worse way of looking at justifying piracy that I've read so far. Hey, we all did it at one time I got loads of software that I got 'free of charge' when I was young but I don't use it anymore. I grew up and know the cost of the piracy is worse DRM and higher software costs because right or wrong the companies that sell this stuff see it available on the internet/p2p and need to make money to stay in business. So up go the costs and on goes the DRM/copy protection that screw it up for the honest folk.
Good point. My wife who is not computer savy(but is improving) and complains about her laptop/Windows/Sony all the time. She came to me last night and asked if I looked into Macs'! I had been recently especially w/ the new release and the ability to run Windows apps which we still would need to run occasionally but I was really surprised that Apple was able to reach her marketing wise.
Just switched my MSN account over to it and it just looks like a copy of what Google does. Customized page, drag n'drop, AJAX interface. They still take you to the next message when you delete within an email instead of directly back to the inbox.
Insightful my ass, just because he ends all his sentences in question marks? 123 was pretty much dead in the water before java was even out. And Lotus Notes isn't done in Java nor is it a train wreck.
Just the fact that you can share or communicate between Linux/Unix and Windows servers is the source of the problem? That is what I read in the article. Just being able to read and write to the Windows file system is stepping on their legal toes? But don't worry because we put 'a lot' of work into the IP and MS is being compensated. Whew! That was close./sarcasm I would love to see this explored in detail.
This is the first time I saw this many Interesting/Insightful posts in a row. Sorry to break the chain.
In this case the racist blogs have crossed the free speech line by posting personal information of anti-racists for an obvious stalking campaign or worse.
it effects their bottom line. If no one buys it, they'll tweak it or called it a failed experiment. It seems to me that they have no clue nor care about what gamers want. Rile yourselves up and post wherever you can to complain but they won't care unless no one buys which I hope, really hope that very few people do.
Yeah, by all means feel free to keep pumping crap into the atmosphere that is slowly killing the planet if not by heat just by poison. I think the global warming stuff is secondary to throwing toxins into the air and ground so that our own food is making us sick. Either case, dialing the output a bit wouldn't hurt as much as the industrial companies lead you to believe.
Thank you for that very rational explanation of what I and many others believe. Your points are well taken and accurate without resorting to any type of disparaging remarks.
Just roll over and take it type of attitude. *shakes head*
Realistically the ones who do have HDMI will try to pick it up in store. BB and CC price ranges are $80 - $100 which might be an additional sticker shock to those who can actually buy a ps3 and the cable on launch. We also don't know if a propritery version is needed. Will Sony come out w/ a HDMI cable kit for $50?

Jokes on us, it's not a ad for MS products. It's a new sitcom from the maker's of Seinfeld.

Maybe stable support then. Each time I try adding a usb device virtualbox throws up it's hands and gives me an error.
I agree, one format is better for the consumer however, pricing will still be in question.
Why are regular DVD movies going up then? No longer do I see new titles non-bonus material at $19.99. But $21.99 and sometimes $24.99.

It also leads to the question why Saturn hybrid mileage so poor in comparison to the other's.
A 4 mpg difference from the hybrid to the gas-only one??

The budget has been on hold for over a year now.
I guess those machines at Disney and most other amusement parks that smash pennies into a decorative memory tokens will be outlawed.

on my joystick. ;-b
I love PA, I bought their book and the gamerpics for the 360 but I am very afraid of Episodic content in games.
I am willing to give this a try but with one hand hovering over the panic button.
