You think we can just give mean people a lollipop and they will start to like us?

Don't you understand? They hate us and our Western lollipops. We put Victoria's Secret on TV and it makes them want to kill us.

Our most basic values are incompatible with the people who hate us the most. Find a way to bridge that gap and you'll be more famous than that Jebus guy.

  2. But no discussion of GETTING XBMC... on Modded XBox The Ultimate Multimedia PC? · · Score: 1

XBMC may be open source, but the only tools which can compile it are Microsoft's, and they are not for distribution. So we have a situation where there is a cool open source app which can only be built by pirating a compiler, or by getting binaries from someone else with a pirated compiler.

Getting the binaries is not difficult for the kind of geek who is likely to open up their Xbox, but Joe Average will have a rude shock awaiting him if he buys a chipped Xbox and tries to put XBMC on it.

That all said, XBMC is in fact dah bomb and I use it daily.

Moblogging? "Look at this gum on the sidewalk. It kind of looks like a clown. Or a horse." Jebus, that kind of drivel makes me want to shoot myself right in the snapper.

But color me a hypocrite. I have a weblog. But I only use it to post "look at this good software I found" type information... things that I have reason to believe will be actually *useful* to some other people.

Teevee is a means by which people can make stuff for you to watch. If you are going to univerally condemn all of their efforts, then you better be prepared to write off all books, movies, music, musical theater, circuses and video games too.

The quality of stuff on TV varies greatly, but at the far end of the bell curve there is some fine entertainment. Even some educational stuff! It may not be your cup of tea, but don't dismiss the people who enjoy it. It's not all "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper."
