Here's what happened, taking away people's motivations and leaving only the legal/software stuff.
There are 3 distinct projects: 1. The Minecraft server, in this case decompiled. It has a proprietary license, and Mojang have been tacitly allowing it to be distributed. 2. Bukkit, a GPL library that could theoretically handle plugins for many Minecraft like games, although it's really only useful for Minecraft. 3. Craftbukkit, which statically links both Bukkit and Minecraft.
Now, here's the relevant section of the GPL FAQ, where it states that you cannot distribute a GPL and a proprietary program statically linked together.
A contributer to Bukkit (not Craftbukkit) for certain reasons blew the GPL whistle, and had Craftbukkit taken down for GPL violations.
And then you need to review every version of the gcc source that was ever used to compile gcc, just in case Ken Thompson has been playing around in it again...
But how do you trust the openssl library you're using to view gcc?!
On the morning of February 24, Rohrer took a break from coding and pedaled to the local Best Buy. He paid $19.99 for a 4-gigabyte USB memory stick sheathed in black plastic.
Like gold, it's backed up the idea that "there will be no more than X amount."
I actually trust this more than the conventional "governments saying 'Please'" system we have now.

I got to just read this reply out of context. I already don't like the entire thread that led to this comment.

No mod points, so I'm posing here that I completely agree. They're missing out on a huge potential audience.

The whole point is that the proxy removes Google's results entirely.

He overpaid.
But he got a good deal on the extended warranty.
Does it cover holy wars? How about volcanoes?

I originally misread the title as:
"Study: Ad Networks Honoring Do-Not-Track"
My jaw almost hit the floor before I figured it out.
He could just as well be talking about every major country.

More importantly, couldn't someone go west one timezone (or even east actually,) wait until the time at their house is 6:01P and safely return?
Sorry, meant to reply to the parent.
More importantly, could I go west one timezone wait until 5:01 and return home safely?
Obligatory xkcd! http://xkcd.com/526/
Sure, but at least M$ word doesn't piss on the floor!
Usually.
Slashdot and SourceForge are owned by the same company. What did you expect?
the slope of that green line. Anyone wanna estimate an (y=mx+b) m for me? :D
I'm getting something like y=3/2x+4
I don't necessarily disagree with your ultimate point. However, governments very much do have valid things to hide at times.
So do private citizens.
Let's see: Barack Obama .
Hmmm, yes he has reasons to be afraid of Google. However that's just because he refuses to deny it. Why? Why doesn't he come forth and deny it?
The argument is stupid either way.
Bribe money, the highest authority in the land.
You know nobody will click an outbound link to that website.
What about languages like Chinese?
