    Signing them up for free catalogs is hardly the same thing. Makeing them pay for it would be an eye for an eye. Most people have to pay for their access correct? In some countries access is metered. Mabey theft is not exactly right for the end user part of spam but it still costs you money.

    I have worked in a few different security fields and believe that it is impossible to explain to management that security is inversely proportionate to usability. You want to keep data 100% secure? Lock it in a fireproof safe.
    You want that data useable that is another matter.
    But until you make security non intrusive people will do things like post it notes. So where exactly is the problem coming from?

    Where the heck do you get your history WE HAD TO STOP. The resolution that was passed was ONLY to kick his sorry butt out of Kuwait. We did try to get the UN to remove him them they would not do it! Don't blame that one on the USA blame it on the countries that refused to authorize it. Just like this time. The funniest thing about it you are trying to morally lambaste the USA for not breaking the UN resolutions last time and taking him out . But that is what we are doing right now and the USA is still wrong. Can you see the irony here? I really believe you are just using this as a handy example to do some trendy USA bashing. You seem to not even have thought about it.

    Intentional killing agreed.
    So your agreeing that deliberately killing children is wrong. Then you should be on the side of the Coalition. They are not the ones that are parking weapons in hospitals and next to national monuments. But the difference you are trying so hard to ignore is that IF the children were killed by a coalition weapon gone astray it was not intentional. As hard as we have tried we have not been able to make them perfect. Not only that be we are not the ones gassing children. Again you are distorting facts to fit your own opinions. If you really cared about the children why haven't you been howling for Saddams removal since he gassed entire villages of women and children?

    Chapter 119 of title 18, United States Code, is amended--

    21) `computer trespasser'--
    `(A) means a person who accesses a protected computer without authorization and thus has no reasonable expectation of privacy in any communication transmitted to, through, or from the protected computer; and

    It is fact they were/are trying to devolope a canapoy that will deform instead of break under a bird strike. It is an air cannon that they fired chickens at test caniopies to simulate landing speeds. As far as sucking one into an enjine (no as funney as it sounds if you are in the plain at the time) It mostly just trashes the engine. But with single enjine craft (Falcon) that is enough.
    The real answer is to find out how to keep them from landing on runways. Or tring to nest near them.

    And this prevents the antennas from being coiled why? How? Even assumeing you are correct and that they need to have attennas for the reason of colecting enought power to respond to the query pray tell me how long the attenna my ferret is chiped with? Answer none or it is internal and still effectively none. Now this is not a cutting edge chip (of cource) but it is plenty strong enough to identify my furkid to the vet. Just like the 8088 I used to play with has less raw prosscessing power then my watch does now.
    And the power of the same said 8088 was a considerable amount of the computing power it took to get a man to the moon.

    Well lets see here one very easy way is to include them at the choke points like gas stations and freeway on ramps use digital cameras with a variant of facial recognition software to "read" your license plate and every time you gas up or get on or off the freeway your tire/license plate/paint job/whatever is being used is updated. As for too much data flow I think not. Compared to Carnivore this would be trivial. Or the other one that the French (I think?) Are suing the U.S. government for using for industrial espionage. Now that would take some computing horsepower!

    Easy after the media campaign gets through telling Mr. and Mrs. six pack that the extended warranty is void without having the new tires registered to the VIN they will just complain about how long it takes.....

    How about riots in the United States?
    Or even better, a few of these with tear gas spraying out all side could have cleared streets
    to rescue downed helicopters. Especially when the government wants to try to avoid creating martyrs. Just think less than lethal force.
    Also as long as the base truck can keep up you just have to make the new wiz bang weapon to fit the box and your off.

    Bending the rules???
    The standard says first do this then this then that. Not being standards compliant is breaking the standards not bending them. I don't care if it was Microsoft or BSD. It is a bad idea. Why do you think things were standardized in the first place? This is just more attempts to appear
    to be superior, like fixing a benchmark test.
    Or the original non standard implementation in TCP/IP for the entire win9x line.

    How about because they are not increasing the connection speed. They are causing more traffic
    because like it or not IIS is not the majority server out there. There for more often then not they are creating more traffic and slowing down your browsing not speeding it up.

    Himm here are a few adds for your list assuming a broadband connection.

    Software repository.
    0 Day hacks site.
    Check and copy from your mp3 collection.
    IRC bot server
    Listening to what is going on around the computer.
    (If it has a microphone)
    Spam from it.
    Just being able to do it.
    As has been mentioned above there is a lot less chance of anything happening assuming that you actually do get noticed and traced. (Not likely)
    Where as companies are very likely to go after you and probably can get an accountant to come up with a high enough money figure to get the FBI interested. Truth be told hacking is safer being done from somebody else's computer. Notice the attention paid to open wireless links lately?

    I disagree how else would have cell phones and pagers before them become status symbols for the same demographic?
    Children have control of a surprising amount of the liquid income of their families.
    Besides how many kids of the same demographic have cars, cell phones, cutting edge computers with the newest graphics cards, credit cards, the list goes on and on.
    Ask any marketing weasel about that.

    Himm how often do we see the clueless suffering because they don't get it? My entire computer experience has been in ISP's. You want to guess how many times I have heard someone say they wanted more spam? Twice, the thousands of other times it is they want less spam. If you want unfiltered email get it. The people who want spam filters vastly out number you. ISP's will do whatever the majority of their subscribers want or will tolerate.
