That is incorrect. Some solutions to General Relativity allow for time loops around massive rotating cylinders. Such cylinders may have been created during the big bang (cosmic strings) and hence might allow travel to any previous time.
Point was regarding the earlier comment suggesting the money just disappears. Clearly spending the same dollars on something with immediate and ongoing 'quality of life' benefits is a better short term stimulus.
On the other hand, when the big rock hits, Mars may look pretty enticing.
Actually, every dollar spent is cycled back into the economy, very effectively in fact during a high unemployment period. Moreover, we get to go to Mars in the end!
We go to the airport in a car, then get on the plane. This sort of craft should be dedicated to the bulk travel, and not stop at either end. A smaller resupply shuttle to transit on & off would save all sorts of energy, rather than stopping & starting this huge system twice for every round trip.
I keep my list of passwords taped to the back of the phone...well, really, my password...which is just my name spelled backwards, but I cleverly spelled it the right way on my sticker.
What a bad article! I am not even sure what the point of writing it was. There was neither a useful proposal for an alternate approach, nor even a clear call to action of any sort.

There is a simple solution, really. Copyright the English language, then license its use. RIAA can give some guidance, perhaps

Getting back is easy - Just grab the bungee cord and hang on!
Kinda depends on how stiff the rock is, actually, and the impedance of the wire.
My conversations is so boring that I sometimes don't even pay attention myself

A few public executions would very likely reduce the number of fools that use smartphones while driving
Really? What was the other movie you saw?
It is called Google.
Huh! I didn't know anyone else had the same name as me.
I keep my list of passwords taped to the back of the phone...well, really, my password...which is just my name spelled backwards, but I cleverly spelled it the right way on my sticker.
I appreciate all the responses to my initial comment, but since I had all my shots I just can't relate...
