I am not attacking your points because you're such a loser that I just can't resist it!
If you go back to high school and learn how to formulate an argument that doesn't have spelling mistakes, then I might consider attacking your points in an objective manner.
Your idiocy just proves KingBob's original point! You really need to research what we call "spelling" and "grammar" so that others may understand your flawed logic!
If Microsoft really wanted to attact developers to their shitty platform, then, apart from actually making it stable, they would give away Visual C++ and Visual Basic for nothing (or next-to nothing).
Then again, Microsoft does love it's cash cows!
Pity, when Linux has eaten all the grass, their cows will starve to death:-)
If you want something that gives you endless opportunities to hear the Windows Startup sound all the time (that's such a lovely WAV, don't you think?) then NT is THE thing for you!
There's nothing like a fresh start to get you all motivated - it's almost like a baptism! Windows emerging from the blue waters to a nice new start!
If crashes don't really pump your nads, then Linux or BSD is the one for you!
You'd be a dumb-ass to go out and buy either of these players - unless you want to be one of those people who bought a Betamax VCR and are now using it as a door stop!
The same thing will happen to Sony's Mini-Disc format - unless they're going to market a product, how can they expect it to gain mass-market acceptance? I live in Australia and have neither neard of nor seen Mini-Disc players/recorders in magazines, on the shelf, or on TV.
For some reason Sony likes to invest millions of dollars in developing new products without actually selling them! How can they re-coup the cost of their investment unless they're prepared to sell the crap?
What about Sony's new "Plasmatron" TV? I don't see any TV adds in Australia for that one - but I *HAVE* seen adds for the new one from Philips. Just another example of Sony being selfish with their technology and not wanting anyone else to even *pay* good money for it!
As far as I'm concerned, when my 17" Sony Trinitron monitor dies, I'll be buying one of them nice flat ones from Philips!
"Solid, durable and protected within its own cartridge, Sony MiniDiscs are small enough to fit into most shirt pockets. But don't let their small size fool you, a 2.5 inch MiniDisc can hold up to 74 minutes of music. That's about as long as a compact disc"
You can read all about it at Sony's Blank Media page for MD's.
This sounds to me like it will hold 650MB of data.
I think you're overlooking that fact that NT is a piece of bloated crap based on a flawed operating system design!
Microsoft deserve nothing less than what Linus said. Designing an operating system that can only handle 8.3 file names is, indeed, STUPID!
That's about as dumb as the drive-lettering scheme in Microsoft's "operating systems". Just put another hard drive into your NT box and watch all your drives swap letters, and then watch all your programs fail because they can't find C:\whatever...
Challenge to Microsoft: write an operating system that is *HALF* as good as Linux/Unix/BSD!
It's obvious this guy has resigned himself to accepting blue-screens, and the inevitable three-fingered-salute which must follow, as the accepted norm in fixing a problem!
He might not actually know there are OTHER operating systems out there (FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris, Tru64 Unix or whatever Compaq are calling it this week, etc.), that have a decent command-line interface and can actually handle long file names!
If you want GNU/Linux distribution based solely on quality then use Debian! Red Hat are too interested in pushing out another version out the door to roll in more cash!!!
My experience of Red Hat has been that it SUX - plain and simple!
Anyone in Australia who's used the Red Hat Pocket Book will understand what I'm saying here:-)
I agree with previous replies to your message. My experience has been that Red Hat doesn't configure as nicely as Debian and seems far less stable.
Debian is also much easier to install, in my opinion. Red Hat only gives you Disk Druid (isn't very nice to use) and plain-old fdisk - not even cfdisk (which is much easier to use).
Red Hat seems to "do their own thing" more than Debian, who adheres to the GNU/Linux ethos better. I know this sounds "religious" but Debian is just so much better in so many ways that I would never consider Red Hat.
I would hate to think that just because the main-stream press seems to think that Red Hat IS Linux that "all paths lead to Red Hat". IMHO, Debian is a much more elegant and well-thought-out distribution, whereas Red Hat seems to be targeted more towards "scoobies" (local jargon for "idiots").
The default/etc/ppp/options file in Red Hat is just four bytes long, containing only the word "lock". The Debian one has just about every option known to man with full comments, but only the basic necessities have been enabled. This says to me that Debian have put a lot of effort into it, whereas, Red Hat are more interested in shipping another version out the door!
I agree completely with him, though. I first started with Visual Basic 3.0 and now that Visual Basic 6 is going to force you to install that Internet Exploder rubbish, as well as the "language's" inherant flaws, you'd be stupid to keep using it!
Visual Basic is really only useful if you're designing front-ends to database applications!
Now, wouldn't Borland C++ Builder be nice for Linux????
Go get 'em, KingBob!

Are you a member of the Flat-Earth Society?
There's a wise old saying: "Where there's smoke, there's fire"
Thanks Bill!
We're not talking about UNIX, we're talking about Linux!
The tools provided for the UNIX platform are vastly superiour to that MFC shite we all *love*

Well, this may not apply to RH6, but it will for version 5: this will fix all your Red Hat problems!
I've never had any trouble with Debian - is it any wonder why Corel chose it over Red Hat?
I've created an icon using The GIMP to use with GNOME (but I see no reason why you can't use it in KDE) for Civ: CTP.
Here's where to get it. It's a 48 x 48 PNG file - 5.6k
So that Civilization - Call to Power box that turned up on my door-step the other day isn't version 3?
Ah well, who cares - it's working flawlessy. I love it! And now Myth II is going to be ported to Linux!
Now must be the "Renaissance" of the GNU/Linux world!
You'd be a dumb-ass to go out and buy either of these players - unless you want to be one of those people who bought a Betamax VCR and are now using it as a door stop!

Read all about it from Sony's web site:

Oh, what joy, what bliss! I can almost feel the sorrow Bill must be feeling right now. He must be one paranoid and worried little man by now!

Linus can always say: "Hey, that interface is crap and it's not going into the kernel. You can put it in user space".
So Linus may speak!

Red Hat are so un-original they can't even come up with their own polls!

Red Hat? Thanks, but no thanks!
"Well, according to this report" - what report? where is it?
Hellelujah! Thanks be to GDEV! At last, cross-referenced documentation for GTK...
:-)
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU
Man, that article was damned long indeed!

Somehow, deep down inside, I thought it was too good to be true...
Well, who'd want to use such crap anyway?
I just checked out all the windoze apps with a 5 rating, and saw Internet Exploder 4.0.
Surely this has to be a joke! Does it TRULY run under WINE? If so, that's nothing short of amazing!
And Microsoft reckon it's an integral part of their shite O/S - yeah right!
