I've been listening to RADIOSTORM.COM.. it's amazing. These guys do "internet radio" the right way. Plenty of bandwidth, so I just press the play button, and it plays almost immediately (xmms). They have a good hard rock stream, without commercials or interruptions. Their stream is 128k, so the quality is good enough to actually listen to it and be able to enjoy. Screw the FCC.. "internet radio" is the way to go, especially if you do it right. People will listen.
I'd love to have one of those motorcycles, but it looks like crap. I don't know why the people designing hybrid vehicles insist on making them look like shit... don't they get it? Build a hybrid vehicle that looks NORMAL, and people will buy it.
The worm exploits OpenSSL via http port 80. The exploit writes c source files to/tmp, I believe the program is named bugtraq.c. Then, the exploit compiles the program into a hidden binary/tmp/.bugtraq which is executed.
Once the program is running, it accepts commands on UDP port 2002.
Simple solution, so your bandwidth won't be exploited for a DDOS, block UDP port 2002.
The worm can be used for multiple purposes, including execution of arbitrary commands on your machine, various flood attacks, etc.
You need to patch your machine, before a more dangerous worm comes along. If you can't patch right away, at least block UDP port 2002.
Additionally, your/tmp (if located on a separate partition) should be mounted noexec.
If a populace is that complacent, where a couple of billion citizens can't manage to get together and overthrow their communist government, then they deserve every little bit of liberty they lose.
"Oh, but they like socialism" you say... ok, so then they probably don't have a problem with internet censorship. Fuck 'em.
Forget the University of Phoenix... however, there are some good colleges offering distance education via the internet. A good one is Southern New Hampshire University... www.snhu.edu.
There are many advantages to internet based distance education... the big one being that you can attend your classes when your schedule allows. Being an entrepreneur, I don't think you'll have a problem with the self dicipline required for such a task.
Take 2, maybe 3 courses per term and it makes a nice balance between career, living, and eventually getting your degree.
Hey man, battlebots were already around before Comedy Central decided to turn it into a tv series. Battlebots is an independant organization, that will likely return to its hobbyist roots, and be better off than it was before.
The mantra is not so much "keep battlebots alive" as it should be "free battlebots".
IBM announced a new line of system processing units, dubbed the "personal computer". These amazing compact systems weigh only 53 lbs and clock in at 4.77 MhZ. This magic box puts more computing power at the fingertips of more hobbyists than ever before.
IBM expects further growth in the Personal Computer field. "We could see speeds around 8MhZ within a few short years", claims Dick Johnson, chief engineer of the computing division.

Seriously OSDN... waste time and resources on something trivial like this (which has already been done several times), but meanwhile, kill davecentral.com.
I (sortof) spoke with AT&T "customer service" the other day to cancel my long distance service... even worse than the typical computerized phone menu... they've implemented a so-called "smart" computerized menu system with voice recognition, and the interface being a pseudo-personality.
The effect was much worse than before... now I had NO buttons to push, and a "person" on the other end that didn't understand a single word I said!!!
I want one of those jackets from Back To The Future Part II, you know... the ones with the auto-dry feature and adjusting sleeves. Yeah, I want one of those.

One day, I was speaking candidly with my boss about the possibilities of using Red Hat for various server tasks. He never took linux seriously, but had been hearing more and more rumors in recent times, that its "getting big".
In our discussion, he still wasn't listening with a serious attitude... until he asked if we could buy it... and when I said "yes", then the lightbulb went off in his simple little mind. He repeated with, "You mean, they have pricing and licenses?" I replied "YES", just to make him happy... and with that freshly learned knowledge, he now takes Red Hat seriously.
There's all kinds of hidden data within your television picture... closed caption data, date/time, interactive guide data,v-chip data, and even URLs. This data is transmitted in the VBI, or the Vertical Blanking Interval, which is (loosly) the unused space between scanlines.
Much like spam filters, there are a few approaches that can be taken to apply statistical data and pattern recognition to the VBI data, which could then be used to skip commercials automatically. There are a few hobbyists doing this.
Since time data is also included in the VBI, the TV stations have exact lists of when commercials are to be inserted by their parent networks. This information, if obtained, could be useful when used in conjunction with the time data in the VBI.
Here's a good place to start reading if you want learn about your VBI... http://www.robson.org/gary/writing/nv-line21.html
Matter can neither be created nor destroyed. So, in the sense of time travel, either to the future or to the past, would we not be introducing new matter into a time by bringing it from another time? If matter can't be created, do the laws of physics allow for matter to be transposed across time?
You don't make sense. I've traveled, and what is happening in China is not my fault. Any society of people have the choice to do things as they wish. If China wanted, they could make money and NOT destroy their own environment. They are the powers over their own destiny.

The proper way to dispose of a non-working or obsolete monitor or television is to take it to a computer recycling center, who can safely crush the CRT and dispose of the toxic plastic and electronics.
Ummm yeah, and how do you think this crap gets to china anyway? Thats right... our recycling centers sell the material to companies that "process" the material, and sell it to other companies in China.
