  1. Of, By, and For on Intuit Still Fighting Government Tax Software · · Score: 1

This is more government of, by, and for the corporation. Bring on the National Sales Tax of 18%. Try evading that you shady fuckers.

  2. Re:They still have A+ on School District Drops 'D' Grades · · Score: 1

The point you all missed (which means you must have been AP booksmart students) was that AP will still inflate GPAs in the absence of "D" grades.

So, just to be clear, there's no bell curve, right? Grade inflation made this an inevitable outcome.

  6. Those who can, do... on Your Online Education Experience? · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Those who can't, teach. It's just how it is. I spent most of my undergrad simply chasing "that piece of paper", with a few very cool exceptions that made my days reasonable. Education is not the same as certification/diplomas. Once you grasp that, you'll be able to successfully balance the academic jewels you acquire, and the real-world experience that helps you be gainfully employed. Knowing that those are, at best, loosely correlated will be one of the great lessons you take from this experience.

  9. Citizens? on US Plans Cyber Shield For Private Companies and Utilities · · Score: 2, Interesting

The fact that any government agency thinks its "corporate citizens" are perfect-able makes me ill. Yes, it's just a name, but it's time that human beings finally have more rights that incorporated entities. It's not to even be joked about by the government.

  10. Actually, contrary to first glance... on Should Cities Install Moving Sidewalks? · · Score: 1

I could make the argument that moving sidewalks would actually encourage more total walking than would otherwise occur. You have nothing to do but walk on them. Unless they are going too fast, more opportunities to walk would be presented than would otherwise be, potentially. I won't poo-poo this just because on its face it seems stupid. (/. FAIL)

  14. Wait, can they kill my TV? on HDBaseT Supporters Hope To Kiss HDMI Goodbye · · Score: 0, Troll

As someone who got really annoyed with a bad firmware update on a new Samsung LED, why would I want to allow my manufacturer internet access to my hardware by default? I call shenanigans. This is an ability to monitor my viewing by someone I don't want monitoring. Imagine if Sony knew I was watching DirecTV, and they told Comcast. Wouldn't that be a marketing bonanza... Maybe this is that "Interactive TV" from 1991...

Unless the story problem says that the mentioned has an effect on the unmentioned, the other is unaffected.
