Sadly the work environment lacks ethics and even basic morality as a norm. Anyone admitting their real pay rate will likely be fired.
Worse yet jobs done out of your trade will be used as an excuse to pay you badly. For example one might work summers washing dishes in order to obtain a basic education. Taking that lowly position will be used as a lever for your entire career to try to hold down your wages. Worse yet since we are about to enter a down turn in the national economy the lower wages common in a depressed market will follow people as a gauge of their pay worthiness for their entire lives.
If you get very, very lucky you just might find an enlightened employer who does not use excuses to hold you back. Keep in mind that good pay is usually found in businesses with steady, large profits.
Capitalism isn't an issue until it replaces religion and mashes peoples' morals. A capitalist operating with good Christian concepts is one thing. An economic fiend seeking to gather an unfair share of wealth and resources is quite another thing. The excuse of doing a lot of good once I arrive is no longer good enough. America is suffering right now from some really greedy people using capitalism as a false god.
What we are seeing is the edge of a very powerful, useful, and potentially deadly technology.Given a large enough quantity of data it is quite likely that correlations of seemingly unrelated data can be used as accurate predictors for other events. For example the price of eggs might be used to predict movement in the price of gold. Obviously that is overly simple but by using computational power and large data bases there should be methods found of predicting all kinds of things that may be world changing.
We lost a family member in 1962 whose body, nor aircraft, nor the nuclear weapons on board were never recovered.
In the past few years there is some news that some pilots who went down in the Pacific were captured by Soviet patrols. That leaves it as an unknown whether our family member survived as well as unknown as to whether his plane or the weapons on board were recovered by the Soviets or other nations. Odds are that our family member perished immediately. We will never know for certain.
As far as home chemistry is concerned you can thank illegal drug users for the need to clamp down on lab equipment and supplies. The sad truth is that all of us need to help ferret out illegal drug users and get them put away or whatever if we intend to live in a free society. Perhaps people in some areas can't see the problem. They only need have lived in an area that has fallen to drugs to understand the intense violence and total terror that such a neighborhood can come to when drugs run rampant.
What I would like to see is this person suing for a civil rights violation in that she has been unjustly accused and a large punitive damage settlement awarded that is just large enough to stop these RIAA jerks dead in their tracks forever.
Yes, he probably will walk on water. We have now gutted the right wing, skinned them, deboned them and tossed them on the griddle. With the left now occupying both houses and the executive branch America now has a chance to survive and prosper.
And to all my non friends on the right I TOLD YOU SO!
Those products are a rip off. The price for what you are getting is beyond all reason. Check our solar cell products and make your own connectors to suit yourself. You should be spending about 10% of what these jokers are asking.
Did you ever think that those that express anger on the net are those unable to hold their own in real life? The guy that can't stand up to his wife or his boss or his next door neighbor is the guy most likely to post angry junk on the net.
Some of the workers responsible for governmental, critical security are well trained, seasoned and dedicated. I would not discount their abilities one little bit.
The speed of a drive is highly related to the noise that it makes. With 10,000 rpm and even 15,000 rpm hard drives in the wild things can get noisy.
However, ideas like suspending it with rubber bands may well have a serious flaw. We don't know to what degree physical contact with the metal in the drive bay acts as a heat transfer medium. A drive suspended in air might suffer a melt down or early death.
I suspect that it would out perform XP. Not only that Mint is faster than Ubuntu as a rule. The newest Mint distro will probably surpass Ubuntu easily.
Health involves national defense. We can't get soldiers out of thin air and if they are well on their way to being life long health cripples we will either have to spend money on them or get into a brutal mode where the sick are swept off of our streets and killed away from public view.
That may not resonate with you but I suggest that you try taking a walk in NYC in the dead of winter. You will see sick people freezing to death on the sidewalks. Cops walking a beat sometimes give them a tap with their foot to see if they are dead yet. To call an ambulance costs the city money as does an emergency room. It is more cost effective to pick them up when they are dead. Many are drunks, addicts or the mentally ill. But some others are those who are ill or just mentally retarded enough not to be able to survive in society.
It's time to stop this national nightmare.
Nothing short of price controls across the entire medical industry can succeed. Frankly the medical industry has been engaged in a continuous rapeathon of our wallets. All we saw from the republicans involved the worst of all answers. They allowed what I call a three pocket solution. The government's pocket, the insurance companies pocket and the patient's pocket were involved. Usually if someone got really sick the extended family's pocket and even the church and charity pockets were tossed in for good measure.
Instead we need a one pocket system. That system needs to be the government or a government assigned insurance policy that pays 100% for all medical, eye and dental care. By carefully controlling the price of each item including doctor's fees we can get health care to the public and stop the national nightmare.
For those that whine that we can not afford it then they should bow down and grovel admitting that several other nations actually can afford it. Is America the poor boy on the block?
This issue deserves some formal testing. For example does OS effect the outcome or how about file system type such as fx3 vs. Reiser? All in all I suspect that the man needs a very specific answer that will require a real test rather than opinions.
I am shocked that many more arrests and convictions did not take place. In the mid 1980 era we had numerous stops at air ports in which the government brought in specialists and checked both credentials and the circuit boards that we were carrying within the US. It seems that they were vigilant enough to be concerned that a hand off to another passenger would not take place on a domestic flight to a person who would later fly to another nation. Most of these circuit boards were for robotics.
I could give a hoot about the economy. I don't give a fig if we all live under a tree with a blanket as long as we get these republicans out, out and out of government. It's either that or storm the castle and build a gallows!
I think that our defense agencies including the Army are very aware and very, very involved in study of all internet traffic at a sophisticated and penetrating level.
Since the public is never permitted to actually know about these secret practices we can have no clue as to the cost and whether these efforts have ever or will ever yield fruit.
There is software for Windows in the wild that will search across all connected drives for a word or phrase. It's been years since I used any Windows product but I wish a global for of grep existed for Linux users. Obviously the search might take an hour or two but at the very least it will find what you ask it to find. In the ideal case it would be able to search various forms of zip files also. That would leave only encrypted files as unsearchable.
Actually we might better see computers as a culmination of several centuries efforts. I believe it is the poet Lord Byron's daughter or grand daughter that came up with the notion of digital information processing and that has been quite a few decades back to say the least. Then there are all of the mathematical, chemical and physics issues that had to be hammered out and finally the birth of electricity, electronics and even the notion that individuals might find computers useful that had to be developed.
An elderly relative asked me about 1989 why I wanted to purchase a computer. She could not understand what I needed to compute. Despite a high education and extremely high I.Q. the idea of computing was lost to her.
The real deal is to attack the political system and get others to do likewise until companies that try to limit your net access are driven into the dirt. Unlimited net access needs to be seen, in this era, as a basic civil liberty that can not be limited by commercial entities or governmental actions.
For example picture this: A young fellow gets drunk and decides to streak across campus. Sadly for him that gets him posted on the sexual predator list for life and also in some areas gets him disallowed from any net usage at all in fear that he might molest children. It's time for society to sober up. The net is nothing more than free speech for the modern citizen.
Obviously this judge is completely drifty and has floated downstream away from the dock. Messing with domain names is not a state issue. The fact that residents of Kentucky may happen to gamble online does not imply that the state of Kentucky should have legal jurisdiction over their gambling. This is an inter-state or international issue regardless of the effect it may have on individuals or the states in which they live.
Sadly the work environment lacks ethics and even basic morality as a norm. Anyone admitting their real pay rate will likely be fired.

I intend to always be somewhat better than a ravenous wolf but then again I've never been a republican or even a capitalist for that matter.
