3. Outlook plug-ins don't work. This is a limitation of Outlook. The plug-in can't be the default calendar, and Outlook will only pop up reminders for the default calendar. Also, my experience of OpenGroupware's plug-in is that it is unstable.
Not true, there are a lot of MAPI plugins...some work better than others. We are currently using Oracle Collaboration Suite's MAPI connector and it is very stable. It allows shared calendar, email folders, contacts. Most users wouldn't know the difference from exchange.
Not sure what you were doing, but I am currently evaluating collaboration suites. After downloading the install files for the 5.0RC, I had a test server up and running in about half an hour. Just followed the directions and there is a good support community with the forums and wikis. Unfortunately, their Outlook connector doesn't seem too stable...so we are still looking for replacements.
They might have changed their policies recently, but when I did this a few months back with my Samsung VM-680(SprintPCS) I was charged $0.40/min, although the service was decent and I got about 10K/sec downloads...
Just so everyone knows...SprintPCS although the vision plan is unlimited will charge you for using your phone like this. I have a Samsung VM-680 and I did this and they charged me $0.40/min. Just a warning to everyone!
just to add...The best part of it was the "double prank", someone would get a call saying, "please hold while we connect you" then the other person would pick up the phone and everyone would be confused. Sounds dumb, but when you are bored at college, it is very fun.
I don't remember what it was called, but about 5 years ago we used this service...you logged onto the website and entered the number you wanted to call, and your number. Shortly after, your phone would ring and you just had to click "stay connected" on your computer every few minutes. One of the best free services ever offered in my opinion...anyone remember what it was called?
Windows 98 = 8 years of support. I'd rather have 8 years of support for a buggy product than this.
As much as I hate to admit it, I would have to agree...for companies or users that have invested not just money, but time into those releases...this sucks.
No, Napster had the "let's break the current business model by producing a system that makes copyright infringement easy and natural to everyone with a computer."
penguinoid was refering to the new napster which happens to be very similar to iTMS, yet windows only
Exactly, it's actually the root account and not the user account that installs the programs. Think of it as a GUI version of sudo.
actually by default the root account is disabled. when you install certain applications it will prompt you for that user's password not the root password. it is more of precaution to prevent scripts or idiots from installing things. but it isn't the root account.
I'm not sure but I think software update does only download the important updates...
It appears as though you can not choose what software update downloads automatically. Once things are downloaded you can make them inactive(remove them from the list of available updates). You can read more here(apple.com)...

Actually no. The update notification/reminder appears in the system tray on the bottom right of the screen(by default) in Windows XP, 2000, and ME. The start menu would be a totally different monster.
+1 for Pre, I use the homebrew app "Terminal" all the time. Screen is a little small, but does the job.
No "rooting" is required, just enabling "developer mode" which is supported by Palm.

Last I checked a T1 was 1.544 mbps up and down; this would be more like the equivalent of half of a T3.
for all you dummies like me who thought, "T3? they never mentioned a T3"....DS3 = T3

Software updates are tied to OS updates as far as the free digital lifestyle iApps are concerned.
Not true. Just a few weeks ago there was a standalone iCal update released.
