This is not your average script kiddy stuff somebody wrote it that knew what he was doing. Spybot, norton, clam or adware never even recognized it. This is a machine behind a firewall, virus scanning, spybot scanning etc but it still got infected through yes you guessed it Internet Explorer, and yes it had every security patch installed.

Before I left I disabled internet explorer and installed firefox. It may still get infected through outlook or some other means but I made it one hell of alot harder by switching them to firefox.

Our clients are a mixture of junk we got from a recycler, cdboot from a hacked slax distro or flashboot mini-itx boxes. Total maintenance time per month is measured in mere minutes. I wrote software on a windows platform for years. The problem with MS is that it is first and foremost a marketing driven company. They don't release any software unless it somehow ties you to the operating system.

I don't want to be chasing their tails I like technically driven solutions. If you want to make me a linux developer happy give me this. Take mozilla and make it a real development platform. Put a nice clean api on it and let me use mozilla to write all of my software so it will run fast on anything. This is what I want, doing so would neutralize the platform, the only thing I care about.
