    There was a time when idiots did not walk the earth.

    Linux still screams, I have a single server with two gig's of ram in it that runs 100 desktops (KDE) simultaneously. Yes it indeed takes alot of ram to run all of the new software. But for a machine that runs 2200 processes that is a impressive feat. It is a dual processor box and I have yet to see it reach over 30% processor utilization, a testament to the efficency of the kernel.

    Software today requires a ton of ram, this has nothing to do with efficency of the linux kernel.

    Along with this goes the idiots that think there is something wrong with X. I run this stuff in a corporate environment and X windows is linux's biggest strength. Remove X Windows and I would have to eliminate our corporate use of Linux.

    No you idiot he killed his own troops, he did this not by accident but on purpose. The iraqi soldiers where heavily engaged with a iranian batallion during the iraq / iran war. The iraqi troops where starting to loose, so instead of reinforcing the line he dropped mustard gas on the entire area killing and maiming everyone. So go blow yourself, that bastard needs to be removed now..

    I would consider a model airplane many times more dangerous than a estes rocket. A plane could easily be constructed of balsa tha would fly many many miles to a intended target and spray a chemical agent. With just a little more work and a few cheap computer parts and a gps receiver it could be made to do it without a manned operator.

    This stuff is getting way out of control.

    Just as the article states...one only needs to look at python as a vm implementation done right. I am not a perl dude but I would say that perl is a good implementation also, the syntax is ugly but it is efficent..

    I always try to achieve on goal when writing any program. I try to build systems that never have to be touched. It takes alot of hard work to build a system like that but the rewards are huge. If I build a system I should be able to start it up and walk away for a year and forget that it is even running.

    The problem with anything like this is that you will immediately have the damn BATF, FBI goons breathing down your neck. 90% pure hydrogen peroxide is a oxidizer, it could be used for bad things (bombs) or hybrid rocket research by private citizens. The problem is that the gubment will target you as a hostile terrorist first. I wanted to do private rocket research on using thermite as a hybrid rocket propellant. This would require the purchase of aluminum powder, guaranteed visit by the BATF. I found that it just was not worth the possible hassle.

    No perhaps Joe will get to keep his job since he is mearly a line worker. Joes IT dept saved 1/4 million allowing Joe keep working. For most companies software is a total write off. Now what if marketing takes that 1/4 million and uses it to market some actual product. Now perhaps a few more Joe's get hired. In a down economy it is all about bang for the buck

    Ouch that is a pretty bad showing in the server market. A few more quarters and you can write that division off as a loss leader. I think this year so far we have bought 8 Linux servers and 0 Windows server. I guess everyone else is moving the same direction.
