    Things might get a little more sketchy out past April 2014, but your setup seems better than the businesses that are all still on XP. Keep a few XP machines to handle older hardware, or virtualize the XP machines, and move as much as you can onto new machines with Windows 7. Good solution for now.

    Not any, most likely. Windows barely reboots for its own updates and most installs don't need the reboot process as they no longer modify Windows system files.

    You'll see windows for various applications even after closing explorer.exe, and you can actually still open (via file->open in an application's window) an explorer file manager window. So the window manager isn't exactly explorer.exe.

    I'll never understand why anyone wants the up button back? All you have to do is click the previous folder's name or use back if you came from that folder. After using the new address bar, I am much faster than I was before in getting file management tasks done. The ribbon will be a great addition and will work beautifully with touch.

    The ribbon doesn't break this, it just changes it. Large buttons are the ones most used and they gradually get smaller until it is a menu button.

    the lock on the file only exists while it is being read into RAM.

    All I was saying is they are a success in the market right now. They are likely to net a positive return in the next few years.

    Now that they are profitable, they will eventually be profitable overall. They have the better box for in the living room: games, music, video. The main thing I like about Microsoft is they keep the competition going.

    Last hotel I stayed at had "free wi-fi", but that only existed on the first floor and only around the office, even then, I connected to the router, but could not connect to the internet. Asking the staff at the desk, she knew nothing and couldn't help.

    Until more than 50% of the moon's rocks are sampled, we won't really know the age. Though even then, we could be just sampling whatever smashed into the moon at some point.

    There is potential that resources elsewhere in our solar system could be helpful to all of us; though, I do agree that saving lives here is of the greater importance.
