You know some of us in IT don't want our profession to be pushed down to just a vocational level. It and engineering are treated like shit so why are you colluding with the enemy.
From my understanding of the German system it limits you if you get put into the lower quality school enjoy your career of changing the paper and fixing printer problems.
All this says is that they are putting war in cyberspace on the same legal footing as other areas. If cyberwar as a term really makes sense is another matter.
>And why would I not want my government to defend my interests and take action against hackers that say run scams and phishing attacks?
I would mod you up but i have commented all ready - its a major problem seems worse in old school publishers unfortunately. Lucky the one I work for has finally seen the light lets how that I see some changes next year.
No its because developers are cutting and pasting large number of of inefficient javascript files (which they only use say 10% ) which both increases page weight and download time.
Web performance is a major issue which a lot of "web" developers never consider unfortunately.
As a BT employee at the time - they where on very shaky ground on this one. - The claim was based off of some arcane functionality used in PRESTEL ( a video text system) and totally ignored the prior art from 1947/48 Vadavar Bushes description of memex was a far better description of a hyper link.
Internally all the techies thought this was a stupid idea.
I used to work for PRESTEL and had not come across this supposed hyperlink functionality.
Just because vocational trade jobs like your diesel mechanic own their own tools (in some anglo saxon countries) does not follow across into the professional / white collar world.
The other problem is it changes the nature of the employee relationship providing your own tools is an strong indicator that you are a contractor and not an employee - so there are lots of legal issues. . Oh and if you want me to provide the tools cool but you will be paying a 25% arrangement fee, the $500 month management fee and and hers the lease agreement you will sign (equal to the cost over 3 years) and the tax indemnity in case the tax people decide after the fact that I owe them tax:-)
I would have hoped that any non trivial network (more than 2 or 3 switches) would have STP enabled for just this reason. STP is spanning tree protocol which is designed to stop this - it also means you can link your backbone switches via diverse routes so a single cable / switch failure wont stop you.
um 12 computers! wow I bet Googles CCIEs and network staff (and Vint Cerf) must be having a good laugh. Cisco expects a CCNA to be able to design a small 2/3 thousand host environment across say 2 or 3 sites. This is the semester 4 team project done in the Cisco CCNA academy course.
Really back when I was unemployed (having just done my CCNA (the proper cisco classroom one) I would have taken an entry level cisco job in Baghdad or Afganistan. The bonus was huge and full expat status.
. And to be honest there is the buzz of doing something different.
I would suggest the OP look at big contractors like Haliburton, Bechtel or even my old employers Dar Al-Handasah or look at the civil service or if they meet the nationality requirements and would go through the security clearance the CIA or NSA employ more than a few it types.
From experience I did the course on handling serious discipline cases for BT and the tutors commented that the most common criminal cases involved this sort of scam and back handers (bribes) from contractors for small civil engineering works. I and i wont say what but there was one case where the contractor took short cuts on a job that could have killed people.
They where the share price dropped and they lost the dividend. Still at least BOP was liable when the Mexican state oil company cased a major blowout in 79 they claimed sovereign immunity and basically said "suck it up gringo"
