  1. Way to plug my favorite store!

It does seems as though this chain has really exploded in the last several years. I seem to recall there only being a handful of them. Now there are over 2 dozen nationwide.

Kind of surprising that a brick-and-mortar store is expanding operations in this day and age. Especially with the old-school commission-based sales floor model.

I am with you. I basically took over the family Apple II+ and wrote BASIC programs day in and day out. I especially liked to take sheet music and convert it to "follow the bouncing ball" sing-along style along with the proper pitch and length beeps from the computer speaker.

Despite that, I would never pay 5 figures for anything because I don't have that kind of disposable income. Hence the gold Apple Watch... that is the only person would have that kind of disposable income and also be an Apple fanatic likely enough to pay 5 figures for some pieces of paper...

Makes me wish there was a feature where you could "jail" certain apps to prevent them from running entirely, unless you specifically launch it.

Actually, what you describe would seem to be called "battery optimization" in the "apps" section of your device settings. Just optimize all apps and they will be forced to sleep.

I also go further and specifically don't allow apps to do notifications so that they cannot wake up the device or turn on the screen.

I addition, I use a wifi toggle app that will keep the wifi turned off (or on.. but mostly off) based on GPS and cell tower telemetry.

Doing those things on my Android has skyrocketed my battery life.

    Similar story with my OP3.

At first it was a power hog, but then I battery optimized all of the apps. Now the battery indicator barely budges. I can easily go for 3 days on a single charge. (I might be able to go longer, but I have never tried). It's as good as the iPad now where if it is off (sleeping), the battery level doesn't go down at all.

Of course... I am not your typical phone user. I just use it to listen to podcasts on the way to/from work and while I walk. I occasionally get or make a phone call. I don't have FB or any other social apps on it and I rarely play games or use GPS on it.

I will often buy apps even just to try them out. It's worth the couple bucks to not have ads and the ad-related malware exposure (not that I know of anyone using the mobile ad network to spread malware, but it seem to me that it probably hasn't been overlooked by the criminals).

That said, though, I don't think I spent more than $40 (if that) last year.
