Nuclear waste has a half life of thousands of years. Plutonium is one of the most deadly substances on the planet. Waste is the problem and the proposed storage ideas are shakey at best.
The power plants can be run safely, look at what the U.S. Navy has done.
Instead of tort reform, how about penalties for meritless lawsuits. Fine the plaintifs into bankruptcy and dis-bar the lawyers. We would end up with fewer stupidity lawsuits and fewer lawyers.
The white box store I'm working at sells 9 AMD's for every P4. Bang for the buck is the rule for home and small business. AMD has Intel whipped by that standard.
If you don't understand that a network comprises hardware and software to form the "backbone" that connects the computers and other devices, I'm sorry.
You can add to the Gore analogy. The votes for Perot in 92 elected Clinton. The Dems never complain about that twist, just Nader taking their votes.
Every vote counts. As a participant in a write-in campaign in NM in 1982, we were part of the third time in the history of the U.S. that a write-in was sent to Congress. The original Dem. died after the primary. He was a conservative and the Republicans didn't oppose. They were not allowed to add a candidate by law, and the Governor put his nephew on the ballot. The voters expressed their opinion of the Governors action by writing in Joe Skeen.
I don't think you ruined your reputation. Then I've been married for 21 years and raised three daughters. My says I'm still a geek and have her permission to say so!
His column in Linux Journal is "Linux for Suits". Doc is the guy who's giving talks and making the pitch to the decisionmakers in the boardrooms. They even listen some! That is where the battle will be won.
Read some of his work, he can really get the message across. In 4 years of receiving the magazine I have never read him pushing one distro over another, he seems to want them all to win. He also give insight in what changes are needed to gain greater acceptance in the business world.
They won't blame Moore, it would end the flow of funds from his movies and books.
Kerry is not a choice for Commander in Chief. His Senate testimony in '71 broke faith with every person who ever has worn or will wear a uniform in service of this country. He dishonored everyone he served with in that rant. Just to build a public face for later politics.
Anyone that does not agree with the above should research what happened to Netscape and Stacker, and the many others who tried to deal with M$. They all got consumed by M$ or another large Corp.(AOL got Netscape) or they just folded and dissapeared.
Negotiating with M$ reminds me of a line from the Godfather: In ten seconds your signature or your brains will be on the paper.
The well documented problems with Diebold have been known for over two years. Their system is badly flawed. To fix this requires a complete rewrite of the software and some hardware work. Diebold doesn't want to spend the money to fix the problem. Maybe this will force them to.
How could anyone have bought a system with poor security and no accountabilty for voting?
At the local community college they use USB flash drives. The school got new Dells a year ago and by November half had the XP floppy problem(it can't read any and wants to format every floppy, new or used, and can't). So for the spring every student had to get a flash drive. No more problems.
I wouldn't install an alpha from M$ on a bet. When finally released it will be late and bug filled as always. It's a matter of trust, or a complete lack therof.
I guess I am lucky, because I don't see it head on unless it's bad. I do see flicker peripherally when it's noticable. This monitor is only a year old, check back in two more.
That hot air wastes more money than any where else on this planet.

Washington, DC. The hot air flowing from there could power the entire East coast.

Damn, thats a win - win if I ever heard one.
Second place is the first loser.
"Second place sucks" - Dale Earnhardt Sr.

In true Hot Rod fashion the bumper sticker goes on the back and reads:
If you can read this, you're in second place!
The entire membership of the Direct marketing Association just needs to be tied to trees, upside down, and fed exlax for a month.

In your case that should be:
-1 uneducated

The system can work.
At Novell. They are not fully up to speed yet with Suse, but they are close. The security of Linux on a Novell network just sounds good.
Sure Cisco makes great hardware, but I still think Novell is better software for a backbone.

I'm a vet and I vote!
Thats why the Republicans call CNN the Clinton News Network. A name well earned in the 90's.
Kind of like the 60's question about what to do if the USSR and China go to war.
Give all out military aid to both sides.

If they were spending "productive" money it wouldn't be so bad. All they are spending now is lawyer fees and thats "wasted" money.

M$ is paying their royalty fees, we'd all sure hate for the RIAA to go after M$!
Snicker, snicker, giggle, guffaw, and the gut rumbling belly laugh.
Slashdot is a blue state, not a red one.

I'm surprised it's insightful too. Even though it is. I was aiming for funny but I guess reality overcame the laughs.
