Except that this is up and running, at least in a test mode and Winfs is strictly theoretical at this time. They already removed it from Lonhorn which is 2 years away. I'll bet this is debugged and running in the world before Winfs is in Beta (which is the release version for M$).

Classic example: Woman picks up daughters computer from shop on Tuesday after tuneup & spy/ad/malware removal. Comes in Friday with 15 year old daughter and asks why she can't get online? Fire it up and popups cover screen. Daughter cliks on everything. Ad-Aware got 423 items and Spy-bot got another 100. That shows how bad it is for the uninformed/uneducated. Trust me, I explained to both that there are NO good popups or banners. We'll see how long it takes to come back again. I did show them how to use and update both Ad-Aware and Spy-bot.

The Thresher went down for 2 reasons. An improperly made hull fitting (read corporate greed) and a debris screen in the High Pressure blow system. The screen iced over during the attempt to blow ballast, blocking the air flow.

The Scorpion went down due to a malfunction in a torpedo battery that lead to a warhead explosion(the idea of electric torpedoes has never worked, they are a disaster).

Niether of these had anything to do with the power plant. Both of these reactor vessels are monitored and have not leaked.

The only reason M$ started paying dividends was to quell a stockholders revolt. The stockholders kept getting the financial statements showing all that cash on hand, and said cough it up. There was some work done on getting votes to change the board to get it. Gates caved to keep the existing board on his leash. Before that, the only way to make money owning M$ was for the stock price to go up and then sell.

Originaly MS didn't pay dividends so they could put the money in R&D. Then the money grew out of control.

Everything you have heard the RIAA say about P2P and burning your own CD's is not new. In about 1970 or '71 they were saying the exact same thing, about cassette recorders. "It will kill the music industry". I swear that some of that crap is an exact quote from back then. Of course the quality of songs taped from the radio sucked, so it was never the threat they claimed. The difference today is the quality, it's much closer to store bought. Plus you can mix your own songs/artists however you want. We called those "party tapes" and when done on high end stero systems, from albums, they did sound good.

The big deal is that with P2P, you don't have to buy or borrow a copy of the RIAA's "source" like we did to make tapes. They didn't like the borrow part either.
