Actually it is an Army/AF pissing contest. Read about the late 50's and early 60's and the hoops the Army had to jump through to get armed helocopters. The Army was not allowed any, repeat, any armed aircraft according to the Key West agreement of 1947 which dilineated roles and missions for the three services. Yes three, the Commandant of the Marine Corps takes his orders from the Chief of Naval Operations.
The reason they want it back is that the 5" gun on each Destroyer and Cruiser just ain't enough. Accuracy wise, they are tack drivers, but no weight. A 5" 54 weighs about 70 LBS with a 42 LBS charge behind it, and out to ten miles can hit anything it's aimed at. Compared to a 16" 2200LBS shell that can land in the garbage can of your choice at 23 miles. In the 70's the Navy looked at a lightweight 8", but nothing ever came of it. I kind of wish they'd bring back the Iowa's again. The most graceful looking warships ever built.
The ones that occured were minor and fixable for the next flight. I've never heard of a plane that didn't have bugs for the first several flights, and sometimes test pilots die. They know the risk and accept it.
You never put code into a production setting until it's thoroughly tested, unless your M$.
"The era of the big gun ended with Midway"? You might want to ask any survivors of the invasions throughout the pacific campaign, Korea, Vietnam, Lebannon, and Iraq(91). They all felt the weight of well placed 16" rounds, after WWII from the 4 Iowa class Battleships.
Now the big guns are gone, this could be a nice replacement. If they get the same accuracy at ranges mentioned, that is excellent.
Do you think thats why they call it a test flight? Kind of like testing a program, you find the bugs and fix them. Not a big deal, they just need time to polish the apple.
Write your Congress Critters, remind them that you are a registered voter, that votes. Then vote according to the way they do. If they fall under Hatches spell of paid for evil, vote them out. Explain to your friends why this is neccessary so they can have an informed vote too.
The honesty part is admitting I watch Fox, I also watch CNN. They all lie or warp the stories so much it really doesn't matter. Reporters these days, print or video are a joke.
Wouldn't it be nice to find some OBJECTIVE journalists somewhere. Just the facts with no slant. Then we could decide what to do on our own, or who to vote for. I doubt the teach objectivity in any jounalism class anymore. I know they used to.
I like norton Internet security. With ad blocking on you'd be amazed at how fast pages load. I have caught things with F-Prot that Norton AV has missed, so I like it better. I try to run what works, much more important than the company or it's size.
dual boot RH9 and WinXP. Linux is for serious work, XP is for games.
Just honest, something that many others still need to learn. I'll take anything closer to the center but refuse the far left. Most of them make it too easy to spot the lies. Their lips are moving.
More and better things. These are the first but personally I hope they have a three or more way tie for the X-Prize. Think of the different ways of doing the same thing. Then the cheaper one wins in the long run. It is exciting.
They still need to do two launches within two weeks with three people on board to win the X Prize. This was a test only. It validates the capabilities of the design. Next, go for the Prize.
I normally don't respond to AC's but if you read what I wrote "a protected computer" you might understand that it not only has a firewall, but is running F-Prot, which is the best antivirus I've seen. Pay attention then comment with a name. Few care about AC's.
My local whitebox store does it this way too. They built a box for a customer and went to M$ to update it and caught 27 virii in 2 min. Downloaded the updates to a protected computer, burned the CD and installed. Now they have a CD of all updates for every version of Win they deal with.
if the foil coated sheathing panels put under the siding of some houses does the same thing? Or someone might make a fabric version to be used like Tyvek as a house wrap during construction. Then everything stays in the house.
Absolutely. Can you imagine the problems a crash could cause?

Every penny they con out of people with this scam goes to Sen. Hatch and his cronies, for more sub-moronic laws.

Look at the problems with Office reading old versions of the same. Standard M$ garbage.

Honesty is much more important than karma.

What about Northrop Strip at White Sands Missle Range New Mexico where one shuttle landed when Edwards was wet?
I watched it land on Fox News. They made altitude and landed safely. Bigtime congratulations to the entire Scaled Composits team.
Damn skippy. Linux for critical systems, Windows for games.
MCSE-minesweeper consutant and solitare expert.
AMEN. With fair weather and a safe trip home.
My name could be deduced from my initials, if you were smart enough. Since your not, who cares?

I'd rather get Sen. Hatch's bank records. Proof that he is bought and paid for by the RIAA.
That it's not DEFINITION of character? Or lack of character? This is an absolutely beautiful description of M$ business practices.
