This may be taking your question too literally, but hey, this is Slashdot. Currently, the best chance of actually preserving your wife's memories is cryopreservation, through an organization such as Alcor. This is, of course, a huge long shot -- but there is a small chance that something like this might work, so it's worth considering. Another up-and-coming technique for preservation is brain plastination.
I've been doing something similar for the past six months. I purchased a fifteen passenger van in Colorado -- refurnished the interior with bed, closet, kitchen, pullout laptop desk, girlfriend, and surfboard storage racks -- and shipped it to Maui. It's been great. Net access is pretty good over cell modem, or we can wardrive when we want to download a movie torrent.:) I've been working three hours a week teaching physics for food money, and windsurfing tons. Journal and pics here:
In case anyone else hasn't mentioned it, this service also provides a way to find the pages containing text in books one already owns. The only drawback is that I wouldn't consider it anywhere near 90% accurate, since a lot of their OCR appears to result in gibberish.
Hey, is it possible, preferably in linux or osx, to use a bluetooth enabled cell phone as a modem for a bluetooth enabled laptop? Anybody done it, and do you need a special phone and/or service?
No big deal, that text is worthless now that all of physics has been supplanted by "A New Kind of Science." I don't think Newton even warranted a comment in the End Notes.
One has to wonder: are The Offspring paying a licensing fee for the use of the Napster logo, or just copying it onto T-shirts and keeping the proceeds?;)
From the spacetime topological perspective, would this make her the first human Klein bottle?

There probably would be mac viruses now if microsoft was capable of writing software that worked...
Quit your job, buy a van and a laptop, and live on the beach in Maui... nope, this post is definitely not safe for work. :)
Yep. And you thought you were living in it. Heh.
The V10 is a little more than I need on an island, but it's probably the fastest accelerating house there is.

It's great that they managed to make such a cool demo come in at only 240kB.

A borrower could get an anonymous ID number (anytime) and leave a deposit, refundable upon return, for the replacement cost of each book checked out.
The only problem I see with this is that some people might not be able to come up with the deposit -- they could use the old, non-anonymous system.
Chindows!
