I remember reading that if you use a lawyer to handle the transactions then you send the lawyer the money and he deals with the seller. This would really only be beneficial if you are buying something expensive.
I had thought that Paramount was going to do a series on You and The Traveler...What ever happened to this? It would have been a break-away venture for Star-Trek.
There is certainly true hard science associated with Star Trek. Don't deny it. You have mentioned the Sci-Fi of ST but don't discount the True Science that was part of creating this cult classic. When Gene R. was in the design phase of this he consulted many scientists and theorists alike. Obviously it is just a TV Show intended to be enjoyed. I have a degree in Astrophysics and a passion for Theoretical Physics. I am amazed at how right they are sometimes in the correct use of terminology and theory as well as true science application. Keep in mind that I am not talking about Warp Drive or Transporters but one day this may be fact and not fiction.

But remember this: Star Trek is Really about Gene Rodenberry's vision of the future. His hard science and science fiction comming together in a seemless manner. There will be an equivilent to Nurse Nancy and Security Officer 4, who always dies or gets injured early on. This is what Star Trek is all about!
If the Gov't institutes the propsed new laws then the terrorist win. Take Carnivore for example, what's to stop them from catching my emails that are unrelated from terrorism and doing something about my warez?
This "New Kind of War" will be a war that never ends. How can it? Terrorizm will always be there just like high school kids will always party and drink underage. How can we fight terrorists? We can kill the ones that we know about, or we can TRY to capture them and bring to trial. The latter is not likely. Once we kill all of the terrorists that we KNOW about, then the others will come out of the woodwork in even more of a frenzy then the first because now the first have been made as Martyrs. This keep going and going like this untill one of them gets thier hands on a Nuke and then this will really be a new kind of War!
I have SBC/PacBell and I have PPPoE. That's the only way to connect to thier residential service. I had originally ordered thier enhanced DSL, but...Don't get me started on that!
Wether or not they should show a profit or not is not up to me. I do know that Red Hat Inc. is a public company and the point of going IPO is to show a profit for yourselves and your investors. I say Props to RHAT! Keep in mind that this is distribution of Linux and they do provide the source code in the distro. GPL Law is not something I am very familiar with, but I do know how corporations work and they are doing great!
I was in the same position as you just a short time ago. I had put resumes out and was working for a Regional ISP. I wore many hats there and towards the end, had to fire many people, all of whom friends. Just so happens that I got fired because I wasn't doing MY job. That's true...I was doing everyone elses job that they made me fire.
So YES!! Leave ASAP. Companies do some strange things when they're in thier Death-Robes.
Wouldn't this be great for Virtual Reality suits? I mean it would be better if it were the opposite...Matierial that would "Touch" you back when you "Touched" something in a VR World.
I work for an ISP. I'm not a Network or System Admin., But, I work closley with them. Seems to me that the logs we keep have saved our ass on several occasions. From threatening email sent by one of our Members children from a Hotmail Account(Which we used the logs and headers to determine the IP Address and therefore username) to Attempted Hacks. One doesnt need to log everything just the "Protect Your ASS" bare-bones logs.
Metallica must love money more than thier "Art". They claim that thier "Art" is being stolen by 300+ thousand napster users? How flattering is that? I was in a band for a long time, we were signed, and I loved giving away music! Just because people are downloading MP3's of you music doesn't mean that you're not making money. I'm mean come on! People still go see thier shows and thats how they make most of thier money anyway!! I think its time for them to give back to thier fans anyway!! We made them rich and it's the least that they could do to let us listen to thier "Art" on our home computers! Whatever!
Then whats the point! This can't be legal. . . I'm the Business Mgr of a local ISP that host Domains(Hundreds) and I'm sure that this will not go over well with them or new Customers. Damnit!
How is this different then when you were starting out, like "Kill 'Em All", and you covered other peoples "Art" like King Diamond? You know people thought that it was your music.
