First of all, its a luxury, which is good during great economy times (which hasn't happened in over a year, now).
Second, it will only be effective if speedpass is common in a populous area (and does the seconds faster it takes than a credit card really make it that much better?).
Third, people freak out when they see RFID even though it gives out as much info as using the credit cards everyone uses.
Actually, I mentioned in a comment a bit ago I'd have a "I blame the liberal media" day where that's all I commented. I tested to see if people would laugh. Instead I get cursed at. Oh well.
I used 'kinda dupe' for the reason that it isn't a dupe, but a very obvious step taken because of the fight in the article I linked to.
Its like writing an article about the police are sick and tired of mob crime, then writing an article about how some Chicago mobster just got arrested.
Its just not surprising nor 'news'.
And I didn't bash MS at all. In fact, you'll find that I'm quite the supporter of MS in this Linux-brethren crowd.
It was kinda a shot at slashdot, but dupes happen all the time and the editors really don't care that much (or don't show that they do).
Now your comment (as well as this one) are off topic. Hope you don't mind the loss of karma.
From just a few slashdot articles ago: MS unhappy with HP. Either HP is really sticking it to MS, or MS is sticking it to HP. Either way, it isn't surprising.
As a loyal SuSE user, I'm happy because KDE default appeals to me (mostly cause its a more mature project). Sure, its a couple clicks during install to switch, but its good that Novell looks at the SuSE crowd and keeps SuSE like it always has been.
Let's just see how well the GPL does in these countries, especially in China where piracy is rampant, and there is no such thing as private property (it's the definition of Communism, get over it flamers).
Umm, the GPL will work WONDERS in a communist state. In fact, China would be smart to support open source software. Think about it... the GPL is a very communist-like idea with communist-like ideals.
Maybe I should ask you this:
Which economy would the GPL work better in: Capitalistic or Communistic?
I'm not an atmospheric geek, but: At normal weather conditions, as we have at the moment, there should be a blue sky on Mars and earthlike colors
Umm... ever ask "why is the sky blue" as a kid and get the real answer? Martian atmosphere is nothing like ours, and I'm willing to bet the house that mars never has a blue earth-like sky.
Benchmarked on the Microsoft operating system!?!?!
Lemmie go ahead and tell you the responses:
They cheated on the benchmark!
I ran my own benchmark and gcc rocked the casbah!
Java is just slow starting and takes up too much memory.
I doubt it. Steve Jobs probably got trumped by higher authority (board of directors) to force him to license out technology.
Wait and watch how iMacs and such won't be licensed out. Jobs is probably taking medication to avoid exploding while HP makes stuff based on Apple technology.
Don't forget the intro music is the intro music of the original metroid... I turned it on for the first time and was listening to it.... had to fire up the ol'NES to prove to my wife that it had the intro song in it....
Hell yes. Who has played System Shock 2? Do you remember the voices of terror in the people? What about those that are transforming into the many? What about SHODAN?
Look at Metroid:Prime. They did the intelligent thing of making new music, but the base of them all were old metroid (the original) songs. Sometimes you have to really listen to hear them, but they are all there. That makes an old gamer like myself really comfy with the switch from the old side-scroller to the FPS.
Wow, on top of legal bills, she'll have bandwidth bills.
Sometimes I wonder why slashdot (or comments pushed up to score:5) even link to sites that will either flame up in DoS-style burnination, or will cost the provider a crapload of cash for going over bandwidth limits.
OK, the CEO of SCO is a jerkoff, but someone simply wanting to code for the UNIX system and is working for SCO as a grunt... does he deserve to get a bad deal because his company is terrible?
Think about it... how many coding friends do you have unemployed? If you had a job, its hard to get another, and its even harder being unemployed or out of the IT industry. Some of these SCO grunts need you people to simply give them some slack. They probably have mouths to feed.
Yeah, if you had a hardcore Linux Zealot interview you, you wouldn't get the job. But 99.999% of the people that will interview you won't be hardcore Linux zealots, they'll be phb and people down to earth.
SCO employees may have a hard time gaining employment at IBM and Redhat (and other Linux distro's), but in any other company employing Unix software, they'll have a shot.
To just change the email system around isn't feasable. The sheer thinking of a WORLDWIDE change to the entire email system is actually quite propsterous.
You have to make due with what you have, not try to change everything around. By changing everything around, you are avoiding the old problems in lieu of ones you haven't thought about yet.
I was going to go on, but your comment seems a bit too much like a troll for me to continue on.
Maybe if they didn't spend R&D time and money on useless features, their products would be more affordable
Please, stop making comments on what they should price their software until you take some rudimentary economics courses.
Sign the back. I don't see anywhere to sign the back of my watch.
1.) How many people really check the signature.
2.) How many ways can you use it without a signature (like a gas station, etc...)?
Get them to pay for the privelege! But what if someone steals my watch?
What if someone steals my credit card? Come on, its the same threat you can make about anything (what if someone steals my wallet?).
This won't work for many reasons.
First of all, its a luxury, which is good during great economy times (which hasn't happened in over a year, now).
Second, it will only be effective if speedpass is common in a populous area (and does the seconds faster it takes than a credit card really make it that much better?).

Actually, for once, he's telling the truth. I was on the Clarix project and he pretty much sums it up (albeit a bit tactless, but still true).
I blame the liberal media for this issue.
Of course, having a business that relies on open source giving a commercial product to the FSF isn't terribly surprising...
As a loyal SuSE user, I'm happy because KDE default appeals to me (mostly cause its a more mature project). Sure, its a couple clicks during install to switch, but its good that Novell looks at the SuSE crowd and keeps SuSE like it always has been.
Of course, YMMV.

It's like saving taxdollars. They do the police's work and the police can worry about real crime, then.

Visual C++ (an MS compiler/IDE) comes out on top.
Java1.4.2 works as good as native code.
Benchmarked on the Microsoft operating system!?!?!

This article, itself, is flamebait.
Funny. None (I also have no RedHat/IBM/Novell/etc... stock).
Maybe you should be?
If they bring up real data, you could be in for some trouble. I'd not be too cocky until I knew for sure that the kernel is clean of any SCO data.
I doubt it. Steve Jobs probably got trumped by higher authority (board of directors) to force him to license out technology.
Wait and watch how iMacs and such won't be licensed out. Jobs is probably taking medication to avoid exploding while HP makes stuff based on Apple technology.
I'll just pay for someone to titanium plate my sliderule, damnit! :-P
Wow... now THERE is some serious wisdom. Wish that could make it up to the top of comments (score:5 just isn't enough)....
Don't forget the intro music is the intro music of the original metroid... I turned it on for the first time and was listening to it.... had to fire up the ol'NES to prove to my wife that it had the intro song in it....
It isn't just music, but sound itself.
Hell yes. Who has played System Shock 2? Do you remember the voices of terror in the people? What about those that are transforming into the many? What about SHODAN?

Thank God someone said this.

Honestly, you are thinking too abstractly.
