  1. Wait now, I'm confused... on "Lindows" Coming Soon? · · Score: 4, Insightful

    Confused confused confused!

You want Linux, cause its stable and wonderful. But we want to run DirectX. So lets emulate windows in linux. Now lets emulate DirectX in the emulated windows in linux.

Simplify the equation, and you have "run windows with native DirectX".

Wouldn't the "best" solution be to update the SDL to run DirectX natively in X on linux?

This story makes it appear that the average Linux zealot is willing to take the time to emulate windows and DirectX for gaming, but not willing to just emulate directX natively....

OK, I just read what I wrote and confused myself even worse...

Think we are jumping the gun? Maybe its under super-scrutiny cause its microsoft, and people are taking advantage.

And the above quote (which will probably get that babbage's employee fired), is most likely an anti-MS/Linux Zealot out for blood against the X-Box. I don't see it very believable.

    Lets separate terrorism with fear.
Yes, the government would instill fear, but that isn't terroristic. Terrorism is defined by a small group using fear tactics against a larger group (government). That's a really loose and poor definition, but I think I put my point across.

the terrorits will have won if you go that way...

    Would the terrorists win?
    Two points:

1.) Terrorism only thrives in a Democratic government. Simple Terrorism and Guerilla Warfare Theory teaches that.
If we are a Dictatorship, terrorism would die extremely quickly.

2.) The "theory" (or one of the reasons) the terrorists hate us is our aid to the Israelis.
Now if we are a dictatorship, we'd choose a side and help them win. Not only that, but the bombing of afghanastan would escalate into a much bloodier war, probably involving the death of many more innocents, to prove our new power.

I don't think the terrorists will win in this senario.

How will the terrorists win? If you carry a gun everywhere. If you are paranoid about everything. If you will do their bidding out of fear.

Now that this is said, lets lay off the terrorism talk. Its almost like everyone is using it to take an advantage.

Sure, I coulda used assembly on the whole thing and it woulda been efficent and fast! You wouldn't need the super hardware!

Hope you don't want to mod it, or me to fix any bugs, though.

Maybe us developers like faster systems so we can implement software with better techniques to make technology grow? Sure it requires a little more hardware, but I wouldn't call it some evil conspiracy.
