I can't believe people call this distro "a starter distro" or say "oh yeah I started on Slackware". Slackware is a lot more advanced than your other Redhat based distros, it doesn't hold your hand and have fancy GUI crap for an installer, it doesn't have ultra-dependency-rpm hell, and it doesn't use bleeding edge software. It's minimal, it's lean, it's fast, it's stable and it gives you control over your system. People graduate to Slackware from Redhat and Mandrake, it's not the other way around.

Odd that the logical processors have more bogomips...Kernel is 2.4.20.
This thing is fast...Apache compiled and installed in about 17 seconds. Kernel compiled in about a minute. The Java app that is going to run on this took about 16 seconds to compile and load...compare that to about 41 seconds on our old dual P3 1GHz machine...NICE.
Find small privately owned theatres (which are usually much smaller, more intimate, and in most cases much more charming) and pay $3-4 less to see 2nd run movies. I love the theatre experience and I can only stand the smaller ones now. Find one around your town.
Mozilla is slow under win2k, but Phoenix is much faster and smoother. Also love the google search box next to the address bar, like I have IE setup. Buttons are small so the web page can have more real estate. For a 0.2 version browser it's looking excellent.
And no matter what people tell you mozilla is NOT faster than IE. IE has them beat for speed, but Phoenix is getting closer to matching it.
The layout is horrendous, the grammar is bad and the site isn't even complete yet! Why are we putting this on the front page?? Why am I reading Slashdot again?
Yes, the newer Jet Li movies are pretty bad, but that's because they've been "Hollywood-ized". If you want to see *real* martial arts action, you need to see older Jet Li movies. Forget about Jackie Chan. Jet Li is a national hero in China (I know this because I am friends with a man from China. He'll tell you all about Jet Li).
