Thats funny cause i enjoyed the new tron and the only good thing about avatar was how it looked. Does Mr Murch from the article mean by "can't work, ever" that it will never make money or no one will enjoy it. Don't get me wrong i don't think its perfect but i'm pretty sure its working.
Not only that can you imagine trying to download cod4mw2 on a mobile internet plan. Sure when data cost what it should (couple of dollars per GB) and 10 times as fast, then the app store might take over the physical gamming sector (overtake isn't the right word because it will be a migration not an out growing).
It doesn’t only affect smartphones they will be able to search all your messages to make sure you weren’t planning something illegal check you don't talk to any known criminals. Also by taking your phone off you it stops you from contacting legal help, which could shut down their operation very quickly.
I’m not sure how they are doing it with Max Payne but if you throw in heads up display goggles with 3d then you have something pretty cool (cause you don’t have to keep facing a tv). For movement you have three options, 1: multidirectional treadmill / giant hampsterball / rope tied to your ceiling, polished floor boards, and fuzzy socks; 2: a small amount of physical movement (looking round corners, backing up a step or two) mixed with an analogue stick kept on the front of the gun (for longer distance); 3: augmented reality, you take your lounge room and overlay the biggest circle that will fit, then translate your position within that circle as movement speed and direction. Something’s would be faster on a keyboard and mouse but I believe I would be quicker at aiming and turning around with a setup like this (you would have to amplify the height of your jumps (which would be weird cause it would look like your still falling when you had already hit the ground)).
I never said anything about weight or even battery life. Either you can't read or you lack the appropriate intelligence to be having this conversation. I just want more power in something that is twice as big. If it’s twice as big you would expect it to be more powerful, twice as heavy, and have two times the size of the battery. Is that really too hard for you people to understand.
When the ipad came out there were phones with the same power. The iphone 4 is underclocked to 800 mhz so the bigger ipad is still more powerful, even if its just due to apples descion to chose resolution over power. Granted i would expect atleast twice the power from a tablet compared to a phone, but i'm sure that wouldn't make as much money.
'A4' is Apple's name for a chip based on ARMs Cortex A8 architecture. The next chip will probably be called 'A5', and will probably be based on Cortex A9. A4/A5 and A8/A9 are two seperate nomenclatures.
Then why does the/. story and the stupid article that it links to says apple is adding an "arm cortex a8"?
Throw in some of the rumours and product pictures I’ve been seeing over the last month, and this could well be a tablet with quite possibly Sony’s new glasses-free 3d screen. Which combined with ps3 power even with new battery technology couldn’t last much longer than a couple of hours.
That said, this years Iphone will most definitely have a dual core cpu and some kind of advanced graphics processor, leaving all the other Iphones in the dust, and creating the same hardware incompatible environment (old vs new) that IOS fan boys complain about when talking about android phones.
I was originally thinking the same thing about apple's next phone being a dual core but I’m not so sure any more. They may just settle for an a9 core (smaller architecture would mean significant performance increase and lower power consumption) running maybe a little faster than the current a8 with a sgx540 gpu from the galaxy s. It would mean it’s easier to adapt current ios (keeping a more compatible enviorment), a cheaper price, higher supply of hardware, and smaller size.
Your future is interesting and wonderful. Still I would of preferred a touch screen dock rather than the netbook setup (get a Bluetooth keyboard if you really want it). Although that would of been competing with the xoom tablet and no one would of bought an extra tegra 2 processor if they didn't have to.
Fair enough i'll give you 9 months but it still wont be anything close to the Asus, and the Notion Ink is like getting an ipad2 three months in advance with a pixel qi screen and usb. Electronic tech time does run pretty fast, thats why you've got to buy smart unless you want to fork out money every year for a replacement.
Give it a clip on keyboard. Then adapt snow leopard a bit while virtualizing your beloved ios. I thought apple was innovative why can't they figure this stuff out.
Thats great but the smart move now would be to sell and buy in on another company thats at $13 now. Your never going to get this kind of % gain again and apple doesn't pay dividends.
1) Asus ep121. a) CES (but its up for pre-order) ___ b) its much better (core i5, 1366*768, usb, hdmi out, smart stylus, webcam).
2) Notion Ink Adam. a) pre order ___ b) its much better (dual core 1ghz, usb, hdmi, pixel qi, exceptional battery life, rotating camera for front and rear view).
call me crazy but i don't mind waiting six months if it means at least double the performance
Many people were making music players; many people were making smartphones; many people were making tablets. I'm glad you like the kool-aid but i prefer something with a bit more kick. Even if they did invent each market its no excuse to hand us such a bad example like the ipad (I’m sorry I’m so down on the ipad but I was hanging out for it until I figured out it was a big phone). If you genuinely believe that everybody is copying the all great innovative jobs that gives birth to all these ideas, then you deserve what ever crap he sells you at an inflated price.
Motion computing were making slate style (keyboard less) computers for medical workers and people working off site (great specs). There is the iclone company that was making an extra big iclone phone running windows a fair while before apple. But this is all beside the point just because your one of the first doesn’t mean you can do a half ass job. Wouldn't you of preferred a Mac book air reconfigured into a slate running both snow leopard and ios, I know I would of, even if it meant dropping a couple of hours off the battery life. Even if there is nothing you would use the extra power for, why do you need another phone processor (most ipad users will have an iphone); it would of been better if the ipad was just a 9 inch screen docking station that you plug your phone into the back of. But this is exactly the point I made before apple is great at harvesting money, make as cheap as possible product and sell it at the highest possible price. Problem is that’s rarely in the best interest of your customers even if they don’t know it.
That’s only because they rushed a crappy product to market while everybody else was perfecting better technology. Sure they will make a lot of money selling it to house wifes and people that struggle with a more complex os, but its still a big phone as far as specs go (i want a small computer not a big phone). As for what’s next it will be heads up display glasses (proper ones, good resolution, and see through). If you want one that will only connect to your other I products, have worse specs than the competition, while only displaying what S jobs deems appropriate; then I’m sure apple will be blatantly copying someone else’s prototype for you soon (1-2 years). At roughly the same time flexible computers will also be becoming popular.
Wait till after CES next week or MWC in feb there will be a lot of cool stuff coming out at the shows. Personally i'm hanging out for the Samsung galaxy s2 or a Motorola tegra 2 phone.
Yeah, I guess it's natural for the tablet to come after the phone.
Not really we expect mobile technology to get smaller not bigger and if it is bigger its usually more powerful not the same speed. Have these people heard of the KNO tablet powered by ubuntu and tegra 2, www.kno.com?

Or you could use a watch phone (it might pass by under the radar). Good idea having a clean travel laptop.

you mean a large segment of the population is happy with a spork and spife combo.
So when bikers in brisbane killed those rival bikers at the airport and escaped in taxis, the cab company and the taxi drivers should be responsible?

you can buy old iphones pretty cheap as well.

Mod the man up. Its comparing apples and oranges if only one of them has been overclocked.
Sadly i believe the screen will only be LCD, also don't expect a newer dual core soc.
