When queried on the loss of the rover the Chinese government replied "We are at a loss to explain this failure, after all it worked in Kerbal Space Program..."
OOPS....forgot to quote who I was replying to for clarity, meant to post:
"Just look all of minor pot / marijuana offenders in jails / prisons.
also what the cost to keep people locked up as well"
Good point, before we legalized it, WA state for the last several years put pot on the very low end of enforcement. If you weren't dealing, or carrying a large amount, you could only get popped for weed if you had it and got arrested for another offence. It was not a primary arrestable offence to simply be 'in possesion.' I read during the debates leading up to legalization that the state saved $100 million a year by not busting people for mere possesion of a harmless weed. Sanity at the state government level...who would of thought that possible.........maybe there is some hope.

Considering who is doing this, I would imagine he may develop quite a few technologies that could be applied to a host of things that have no direct connection to this project. Better water seals, improved materials, better manufacturing techniques. A lot of NASA tech has been applied to everyday life that saw its origins in spacecraft....Headsets, pens, materials, etc... It's visionaries with money or means that develop tech for personal reasons that revolutionize the lives of the masses. (yeah, the same applies to military tech as well, but that is outside the scope of the article.)
Just have to ask. Federal site or State site? Washington State seemed to be working well earlier today, but it is a state site.
The Federal Government shouldn't RUN anything! They couldn't even make money selling whores and alcohol when they took over the Mustang Ranch, so, naturally they will fuck this up too.
Maybe they should hire Rockstar. Once they get the GTA V rollout under control they will be experts at running a large popular site that gets swamped beyond their designs. Just as AOL, Blizzard, etc have in the past.
Semi truck drivers do not REQUIRE any type of simulator training. After schooling, (which involves classroom, range, and real city/countryside driving) student drivers are sent out with a trainer (aka "Lead Driver") for between 3 and 6 weeks depending upon the company. Yes, there are simulators, mostly used by people involved in fatigue and distraction studies. (There MAY be a company that uses them more extensively, but they are by no means required!) I have been a Lead Driver for eight years, I train an average of ten new drivers per year. There is nothing quite as exhilarating (read: Fucking Terrifying!!!) as a driver with 5 days experience coming down a steep mountain grade on a (rainy, icy, snow packed, pick your favorite inclement weather.) road surface......
Obviously all of the rhetoric surrounding our illegal or unconstitutional behavior are extremist lies that jeopardize the safety of your country and families.
"Rousseff is urging Brazilâ€(TM)s Congress to compel Facebook, Google and all companies to store data generated by Brazilians on servers physically located inside Brazil in order to shield it from the NSA."
Because of course the Alphabet Soup agencies can't figure out how to tap an internet based in another country. I am certain they see most everything in Iran and China. Likely they tap Pyongyangs internet and know what kind of porn Kim Jong Un likes and how bad he is at GTA V....
And once they become commonplace they would have handlers ( with warehouses full of identical battlebots ) and repair/maintenence departments separate from the operators.
Handlers would prepare them for deployment and deployment could be automated. Coupled with drone and satellite coverage, there would only need to be a need the infantry to back up the robots and do what they can't.
If your front line force is backing up your robotic force and not operating them, it gives you more active weapons to confront the opposition with when the shit hits the fan and all your battle plans fall apart. ( as they all pretty much do...war is really the art of on your feet thinking once the bullets start flying! )
Guided by competent on site CO's and NCO's remote operators would probably be controlling them from behind the firefight, possibly on another continent. while many robots are airdropped, remotely driven in, etc. Along with reinforcements or perhaps semi autonomous so one operator controls multiple bots. The operators don't actually need to be anywhere near the battlefield. Damn, infantry 1 just got destroyed. Transferring to infantry 2...
I agree, I love to drive. As a professional driver instructor for Semi Trucks, my favorite activity is to come home to "my baby," and drive for enjoyment and relaxation.
Plus a big downside as far as I can see would be the idea that as bad as many drivers are, imagine how bad they will be when the need arises to actually drive the car. After a very short time many will become used to playing games, sleeping, surfing the internet while the car drives, that they will lack the most basic real world experience to be spatially aware enough of situations outside the vehicle to competently (or even minimally) operate the vehicle.
Love the idea of being driven home intoxicated, fatigued, medicated. But over reliance on self driving technology will result in drivers who are trained on GTA X instead of reality.
Technically most of the bottom quarter think they are in the top half.
How True! I have been a driving instructor for OTR (Over The Road) semi truck drivers the last 8 years with just short of a million accident free miles in a truck and god only knows how many private and racing miles since age 16. I love to drive.
The vast majority of my students thought they were great drivers, when in truth most were just lucky drivers. After a month of daily (7 days a week as co-drivers) nearly all of them became truly good drivers. Most were amazed at how poorly they drove before training.
The thing I hate most hearing from friends: "What do you think of my driving?" or "Would you critique my driving?"
I now (after learning the hard way they don't really WANT to know) decline all such requests.
Do I drive better than others? No, I love to hot rod my Camaro around and have never owned a 'normal' car and few automatics. I just pay more attention to my surroundings and Choose carefully where I 'let it loose." i.e. where the only idiot I can injure is myself. You wanna race? The local dragstrip hosts a street night all summer. See you there.
From the article.... "The researchers said fraudsters were using Dirt Jumper, a $200 crimeware kit that launches DDoS attacks, to draw bank employees' attention away from fraudulent wire and ACH transactions ranging from $180,000 to $2.1 million in attempted transfers."
Sounds like theft to me. Now granted it says "attempted transfers," but, I think someone made themselves very rich while only giving the banking system a minor scratch. A few million is pocket change in the land of banking.
Already here, and while it may not be a free download, but Iron Sky looked as slick and professional as any Hollywood film. Great story, Great acting, and special effects to rival a blockbuster.....for around (as I recall...might be off some) 9 million US....
Plus, no political correctness B.S.... The Palin caricature is priceless....
I am a over the road truck driver. My laptop lives on a RAM swingarm stand and serves as GPS, surfing, hi end gaming, and is 3 years old. It has over 3/4 of a million miles on it on the roughest roads in the country. (Team driving environment, truck running nearly 24/7) It is on an average of 18 hrs a day. Some weeks it is never shut off. It will play Crysis with a reasonable frame rate. It has proven durable and lives a life of abuse, vibration, dust and temperature extremes. It has never been in the shop and is only now exhibiting a slight problem with temperature and my DVD player is starting to die from major overuse.
It is a Gateway FX series with a 17" screen. I know they are supposed to be crap, but this one far outlasted my Toshiba gamer I had before. The Toshiba died within 2 years under the same conditions. The Gateway has survived things that I would be embarrassed to admit to. (like a trainees duffel bag falling on it from about 3 feet! forcing the lid closed in a bind, as the stand is not designed to fully close the lid.)
I am amazed at it's longevity. I bought it as I could not afford the same specs in another (better?) computer. And I would never buy a dell or Hp for my work, period. Too many bad experiences there!

My favorite physics simulation. Still in early developement but getting better all the time. Oh, and it updates to .23 today!
Talk to a cop about my car getting broken into last night while smoking a joint on my front porch. And not get arrested for a victimless crime....
Oh, wait, did that this morning.....
Ah, Washington.....

Wow, did I really just type that?!

Wait a moment here....There are articles?

FTFY.....Turnips are really good listeners for a couple of weeks before the mold sets in........
Obviously all of the rhetoric surrounding our illegal or unconstitutional behavior are extremist lies that jeopardize the safety of your country and families.
THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!
"Thanks for shitting in the pool, NSA."
So much said in so few words......wish I had mod points...

Personally, on a battlefield, the decision would be easy.

Get off the road, gramps.
I'm 54. I remember how pissed I got when leaded PREMIUM went to $0.60 a gallon.
Now get off my balcony...
I don't have time for a lawn...
Counter suit.
yes, you fail to comprehend the meaning of:
"meant to divert the attention and resources of banks away from fraudulent wire transfers simultaneously occurring."
