New airport security idea: No more full-body scanners at the airports.

Instead, an armored booth you step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on your person. Justice would be swift.... Shortly after hearing a muffled explosion, an announcement comes over the PA system . . .

I agree with you point by point! I too, drive a truck, 70 foot OTR version. And I have a penchant for "muscle cars", I can't back up my Firebird or my Camaro by mirrors alone. They suck! Not to mention the limited rear visibility in the Camaro. With that car even turning your head doesn't eliminate the large blind spot from the rear pillars.

I love my Camaro but It is far more intuitive to back up my articulated truck.

And don't you just love the idiot who matches your speed while driving in the passenger side blind spot?

I would add to your undertaking on the passenger side statement not just cycles but any vehicle. I have nearly taken out a few subcompacts who thought they were being clever and cut in on the passenger side during a wide right hand turn.

Lean over and look twice at everything!

Yes, I have to agree with that statement. I train semi truck drivers for a living. And it sounds to me like he was overly tired and possible falling asleep. It is irresponsible to drive under those conditions when operating any vehicle, especially one that can weigh up to 80,000 lbs!

Yes, he did need to be taken off the road. But DUI's are actually fairly rare, a semi driver is DUI with a BAC of only .04 instead of the normal .08. Even in a private vehicle. A class A license changes the BAC level for all situations.

Since you have been upgrading and repairing laptops for ages I have a query for you. I have a 2.5 year old gateway 17" fx. It has been a great laptop replacement in my semi truck but I would like to upgrade video, blu-ray, cpu etc.

In your experienced opinion, is this worth the effort or even possible.

I use it for music, gaming, internet and gps functions. So it is on about 16 hrs a day, on my off time it is hooked to a 22" visio television for gaming.

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

My guess is your a Linux user, and that's all well and good. But if you are a gamer, Linux doesn't work so well. Windows isn't all that bad. I tried Linux years ago and found I didn't care for all the setup it required. I am sure it has improved with what I've read about recent distros, but it still won't play the games I use or run my mapping/gps program.

And MS has really stepped up to the plate with Microsoft Security Essentials.

If Linux ever gets as large of a customer base, you too, will be needing AV.

Amazing as I have never seen so many non-negative MS comments on an article as I have with this one. All the Windows users came out of the closet for this one.

The problem with all gps systems is too many drivers allow the machine to do their thinking for them. Of course too many drivers don't drive to begin with, but, rather only point their vehicles and hope for the best while texting, talking, and drinking their starbucks.
