    Portland cement absorbs CO2 while setting... Just not as much as it takes to make the clinker using fossil fuels. With solar kilns it could be close to neutral

    Windows system call abi is already different on the kernel level between versions... and not just new ones added like in linux - the numbers change too, so you either need runtime detection and multiple tables or just use the MS provided dll whose interface remains the same.

    Like not having a functional keyboard, bending or separating frames, dropping signals if "held wrong", slowing down upon update, randomly overheating and rebooting or even literally melting down... Most reputable aftermarket repair shops would not be willing to repair to Apple's original specifications.

    Most of the 3d printed "metals" these days are a matrix that requires further processing. Something like this could enable _real_ 3D metal printing.

  13. It won't necessarily be at many atmospheres in liquid form. Sure CO2/water would need to be at high pressure, but you would use other molten materials that would not be near their boiling point which flow to a separate heat exchanger to heat the working fluid (probably water/steam) like the hot side of the Stirling engine you mentioned. To control power level and heat storage you just bypass part of the flow around the heat exchanger to an insulated supply tank. The place where you would need this material would be in the collector itself and the immediate surrounding area where the temperature can get much hotter than the rest of the system.

    The reaction time for thorium makes it much more difficult than uranium. The candu reactors can even use un-enriched uranium (by using heavy water as the moderator) Unless your country is a nuclear nation sitting on piles of thorium (read India), there is no compelling reason to switch.

    It would be possible to calculate the reflected/refracted high energy pulse trajectories and when each known space body's signature would make it to earth. Given sensitive enough equipment, we could use the energy spectrum distribution to figure out what elements are in each one. As a side experiment we would just note how far off from the calculated time and duration the signals arrive... (this reminds me of a similar thing with Mercury, but on a much larger scale).

    This one is bsd licensed and backed by many big corporate sponsors (who have contributed patents), so it will end up being very bloated and full of #ifdefs but not poorly adopted. If somebody disagreed with a code of conduct they can just fork it.

    There are alternatives to the catalytic converter that cannot even get developed due to them being mandatory. For instance, a vortex generator in an electroplated resonator could be almost as effective and increase efficiency ... The decrease in CO2 would far exceed the increase in other emissions.

    The algorithms are biased against lies and stupidity - not conservatives directly. If there were more half way intelligent conservatives like Paul Ryan, it wouldn't seem so skewed. Unfortunately (IIRC) he plans to retire and their war heroes are dieing off, so expect more "skewing".

    Most other laptop brands run windows, so it make sense.
