    This machine can tell the operator what they're thinking. NOT how they will react. And even the blurb says it isn't very accurate.

    If the machine spits out I was thinking about mowing down 12 people in the street with an Uzi, I confirm "Yes I thought about it." but never do it, that means despite the thought, I chose not to act on it. THAT'S free will.

    Just because this machine can deduce enough from the biological processes in my brain that create a full formed, coherent thought, doesn't mean it can say with certainty I will ACT on that thought.

    I'm going to have to go with you on this. There is a process in my brain that conjures these thoughts and presents them for selection. Ultimately I can say "Yes, that one." and disregard the rest. Being able to deduce what I'm going to think versus the path I take once I think it is two different things.

    Wait! Wait! Are you suggesting Clinton is the most competent to be president?? She voted for PATRIOT Act (and to renew it), she was callin' for Federal video game regulations (nanny state), blah I can't even keep going. I'm not a rabid Obama supporter, I have no clue who I will vote for. I may write in Charlie Brown.

    I have looked over her terms as Senator. I don't see it.

    You're worried about a few bucks redirected from NASA? I mean in the big picture of what the government spends, this is a few bucks. What about the billions blown by the Census Bureau over their botched hand held plans? How much space science could that have funded? You think Hillary is going to fix that? I don't think Obama will fix it, but so far I've seen more promise in him to at least start something.

    Mine: An individual or corporate entity that lies, cheats, and swindles for their own gain. Not just to the detriment of "society", but an individual as well.

    Based on my definition it seems his list hits the nail on the head. Microsoft is already a convicted monopolist. RIAA has gotten quite a few slaps in court for trying shifty tactics. Dick Cheney, enough has been proffered on this forum about him. The bin Laden family? Like they're completely untethered to Osama. The FBI even published a report that one of the "bin Laden flights" out of the US on 9/19/01 may have been chartered by Osama to get people out of here.

    When Intel started its big layoff push in fall '06, they were targeting marketing, underutilized internal IT and then HR (fewer overall employees = less need for overstaffed HR). Their core engineering and production teams were barely touched.

    AMD hasn't announced where it's cutting from, but if they're smart, they're going to cut fat, not lop off their head.

We have seen how businesses will drop whatever they feel is not a reliable revenue generator. Perhaps a coordinated movement that messes with their online business model will keep them away.

    I am seriously expecting Ballmer to completely lose it any day now. He'll announce Microsoft's intention to buy Google for 1 million a share (in Monopoly dollars), while juggling chairs and developers.

    Say what you want about Bill, the company did nothing but grow under him (granted there was the .com to help). Under Ballmer MS is doing everything it can to piss anyone and everyone off and fuck itself into oblivion.

    The point of the "Games don't kill people, people do..." argument is, yes games can be violent. However, as a "gamer" I know that the violence stays within the game world.
