How the hell does that answer his question? Pretty big difference between "Holy fuck we're being bombed by the Japanese!" and "Terrorists abroad are selling pirated, copyrighted material. Better clamp down with draconian laws back home!"
Raping another being is a forceful, violent assault (otherwise it's just kinky sex). I somehow doubt MS was holding a gun to anyone's head. No, this is simply due to greed and spinelessness.
What's the quote? Never ascribe to malice what can adequately be explained by ignorance?? It's pick your poison time. Do you rely on an organization run by complete idiots? Or one run by completely corrupt officials?? Either way, I'd say ISO has become a lot less important.
Wait, wait, wait.... You mean Urban Dead the online game?? How the *hell* is that any better than people, oh I dunno GETTING OUT OF THEIR PARENTS BASEMENTS.
Glad to know there are bigger nerds than me who have little chance of diluting the gene pool.
There was a paper from a study released in 1996 which for the life of me I haven't been able to find again, however... the gist of it was that automated output alone was equivalent to that of our largely manual labor economy in the 40's. It went onto suggest everyone could take 2-3 months off a year (it's been a while since I read it so I can't remember it clearly) without putting a real dent in our largely automated world.
Kind of depressing read at that particular time. Of course now I'm way better about telling my employer to eat it (not in those terms) when I need time off for myself.

Must a CD Cost $15.99?

Surely you're not insinuating that the creative process is easier than turning on a machine that spits out 100k copies of one CD?
Congrats, it's 2008 and you can do with an MS OS what I have been doing with Linux for ~decade (I think apt is about 10yrs old, right?). The thing is, it's almost justifiable. They either stick with the MS way of doing business, and badger, bully and monopolize a market and release sub-standard software (I admin Linux and Windows, so I'm not just jumping on a bandwagon). Or they rip off a method that's worked for the "other guy" and simply market as loudly as possible how "innovative" they are.
Also, in general I don't think releasing a more "componentized" OS would draw/.'s ire if the idea weren't to then nickle and dime for addons down the road. Granted this entire article is all conjecture until an "official" announcement and release.
I would note that your use of the term SKU is also an internet meme that should die.
His argument still stands as yours fails to take into account that 99% of the time when a user buys a new PC, they're getting it with Windows, whether they want it or not thanks to Microsoft's anti-competitive behavior. Windows is really only popular by "default" as there were few other options. That isn't the case with iPod.
Which I don't get about PC games, would it be so hard to build a game that runs w/o being installed first? Cache that shit out to hard drive like you do on consoles nowadays.
Exactly. If I were an EA shareholder, I'd be pissed. As another poster pointed out, the amount EA is offering is really over stating what GTA specifically is worth. Don't piss away a crap ton for a short term boost. Although I guess that is the American way.
Remember when it use to be about family, apple pie, and fireworks and shit? Now it's all about the Benjamins.
I have a novel idea for Tim Sweeney, try releasing a game that isn't just a rehash of your most popular title with better graphics. If that's the one trick pony you're relying on, it isn't the rest of the industries fault if you can't push as many units as you'd like to.
Because it's easier to accept a halftruth that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside rather than a reality that suffering or not getting what your want all the time is a part of life.
Police are lazy and want cases to solve themselves. Politicians are crooked and want to keep their "jobs" so they'll pull all kinds of shady shit and sell it to the sheep as "protecting them" so they can go about buying iPods and spending more than they make.
Coincidently I noticed today that, an old domain I recently let expire a couple months ago from GoDaddy is now registered through Enom. (I checked cause I was thinkin' of reupping on it now.)
Thomas Jefferson said essentially that another person's belief in their $DEITY of choice has no effect on me which is how the "freedom of religion" thing came about. Sounds a lot like Buddhism really, but I digress. All over the world fundamentalists would have you strung up or run out of town for not following THEIR belief, which probably isn't they really believe if they thought about it for a second. Most cases it's just life-long indoctrination.

The school is getting the better short term deal. The kid the better long term deal.
It takes me forever to pull out SELinux when I deploy a new Linux server
Why not use a distro that doesn't use it by default? Or do all distros use it by default? Serious question.

Don't tase me, drone!

Not quite as catchy

Put the disk in, detect hardware, launch game.

Just an off comment, but note how most politicians are lawyers? Hm.

Exploration over. Where's my grant check
They probably hope you'll give up and just pay the extra charges.

Whose morals? I'm pretty sure an Evangelical Christian's idea of what it means to be a moral person differ a bit from my own.

You mean like the rainbow arrow markers in Mario Kart? That would be awesome!

In a perfect world those uncooperative manufacturers go out of business because people are only buying from cooperative ones.
Anyone willing to blow themselves and others sky fucking high is mentally handicapped.
