The RIAA should recognize file sharing as a medium for marketing. People who normally wouldn't listen to an album, may download it, like and then buy it.
Why would they buy it if they already have a copy of it?
I think he was hoping that there was going to be considerable grounds for stopping the government from abducting people regardless if they are guilty of a crime or not.
Some people see that all Americans still share the same rights as those accused of crimes. Until anyone is proven guilty, they should be treated the same as any other American.
When the government decided to "abduct" this particular man, they decided to take away not only his rights, but every Americans'. Your rights are shared equally, not distributed according to what the government deems necessary.
Only now it seems to be difficult fight against such abuse of power, since the subject of all of this was admittedly guilty. Think about it: Why should the most powerful government have to abduct people (rightfully or wrongfully)?
Dude, the first couple generations of both systems had major flaws. I'm willing to bet that your PSX that you "played 24/7 (by day and night shifts), moved and manhandled on a regular basis without failing once in my ownership of the console" was one of the later generations.
After all that crap people went through they still release the PS2 that develop disc read errors. Once again, if you buy a early generation system, there are flaws.
I loved my PS2, and I'm far from a Sony hater. I'd still be playing on it daily if the fucking thing actually worked!
Sorry, I'm just pissed off because I spent a lot of money on it so that it can sit there and do nothing. And Sony won't do shit to resolve the problem.
As for their other products, sure, they're fine. I only mention my experience with their gaming systems because, well, this thread is about their gaming systems. Imagine that.
Tell that to every PSX owner who has to put their systems upside-down and then pray to get their game to work. Or the countless people (myself included) who's PS2s refuse to read any discs.
Yeah, their systems are great, until they stop working. I trust this company to make a quality portable system as much as I'd trust R Kelly with my 12 year old daughter.
Actually. CDs in Canada cost less that than in the US when considering the exchange rates. Same as cars. Everything else is equal or a bit more expensive in Canada (with the exception of medication, but that is due to our socialized healthcare system).
Sudo still requires the user's password as long as its been unused for 5 minutes (a value that can be changed).
Any major changes have to still get the admin's password. Basically the person who uses this exploit will only have access to the current users file (which I'm sure for all is bad enough).
Single CPU Jet3D Vector Benchmarks - MFLOPS/MHz G4 1.25 -> 1.29
Single CPU Jet3D Scalar Benchmarks - MFLOPS/MHz P4 2.60 -> 0.96
Sure, the G4 using the scalar benchmark is just a bit faster, but as soon as you use Altivec the G4 beats the P4 on a per clock basis soundly. That is what all those arguments are refering to. Thanks to Altivec the processor is more efficient.
Arnold really isn't that good of an actor. His best parts are playing dim-witted violent brutes.
Like a robot from the future? Your point being?
"Attack of the Clones" was EXCELLENT
Heh. There goes any credibilty. The only enjoyable part of that movie was Yoda fighting, but if you watch it a second time (Yoda only, the rest of the movie I couldn't bare) you'll realize that it sucked too. Just not as much.
Even if Apple is faster than Wintel, the Price:Performance ratio is horrible for Apple hardware and software.
I think this is the one time where Apple hardware hasn't been "horribly" priced. A 64bit dual-2Ghz workstation with SATA HDD, DVD-R, PCI-X, a 1 GHz FSB and a max of 8GB of DDR-RAM for under $3000.
As for software, that comment is just pure ignorance. 50% of the stuff they make is free, and the other software is all competitively priced. What software from Apple is overpriced?
While my examples were not to be taken directly in context, they still showed that standards are issued for a reason.
Standards are standards. Expections and guidelines for what is produced in order for certain comprehension and compatibility. No one document as simple and a spreadsheet or formated text, especially for any mission critical business, should be tied to only one application.
The idea of forcing MS into following standards is absurd
Why is it absurd? Car manufacturers have to follow certain standards. Architects have to follow certain standards. Television producers have to follow certain standards. In order for any market to be fair and competitive, there are certain standards that always have to be met. I think that if a company or companies require reliance on some software, there should be an assurance that the software is standardized.
Only in America will they spend $35 million dollars to promote something everyone already wants, money.
a music service that doesn't impose draconian so-called copy-protection measures on its audio files
Actually it's perfectly legal to smoke and possess less than a ounce of weed in Ontario for quite a while.
Scripted, choreographed and fake.
Just like olympic figure skating.

Sony produces great hardware

Err, I meant to say "any one of our". Must of zoned-out there.
Perfected art of staring at monitor and 'zoning out' while pretending to work.
Meh, just like Microsoft Office, this can be placed on anyone one of our resumes.
Well you see there are these things called showers...
Do these "showers" run on Linux?

The problem you guys have is "why didn't I think of that back then".
No, my problem is "I wasn't alive back then".
What are you talking about?

16 bit sound
Considering my G4 PowerMac has 24bit audio, I think it is safe to say that the G5 have at least that too.

I'd enter if I wasn't totally lacking in artistic ability :-)
I'd enter if I wasn't totally lacking in american ability.
...you just have to fill that backdoor, then, don't you? I hear that's Gates' specialty.
... but I hear that Ballmer does, all the time.
/rimshot
I don't get it....
What worse than finding a worm in your apple?
Finding half a worm in you apple.
(And now the resounding sound of groaning shall commence)
Insert "Insert Joke" Joke here.

What about the new 3.2's?
You mean the new chips from Intel that were announced the same day as the G5s?
Shit, some people you can never please.
