    At 1.5 cents/mile, this is 45 cents for 30 miles. A car with average 30mpg pays 40 cents/gal in tax. A car at 22mpg(SUBs, trucks) pays 54 cents for 30 miles in gas taxes. A break for gas guzzlers, electric and hybrid owners are screwed.

    You hit the nail on the head. The reason we have DST is cultural, because most people are like you, they have always had DST. It has nothing to do with energy savings, as studies have shown this to be false. I have lived 38 years without DST, 31 years with DST. I much prefer ST all year round.

    Every time our area gets a snow forecast, the announcement always is couched that a small shift in the storm will dramatically shift expected amounts, but the media always runs with the max numbers. Panic ensues.

    Yes, Virginia, Gerrymandering exists, and a non-political solution is needed. Some variation on citizen input plus computer factoring is needed. Plus remember that the courts require that minorities are not disenfranchized. Did this study account for court ordered requirements? More important, after Gerrymandering is removed, states need to allocate Electoral College votes by Congressional districts to more favorably balance the disparity between urban and rural areas. In states such as IL, urban areas (Chicago) so dominate presidential elections such that rural areas might as well not vote.

    These frequencies were taken from the military by threat of a financial gun. The bands are important for national defense, which to me is more important than allowing teenagers to text each other.

    Some of us do not like darkness in the morning. Daylight when rising helps us start the day, more important than extra hours of daylight at night.

    Agree, where I live in the summer, sun noon occurs at 1:20 pm clock time. which pushes the hottest part of the day to between 4 & 5 pm.
