  6. Re:New meaning to blue screen of death? on Former Microsoft Exec To Lead HealthCare.gov · · Score: 1

This article has nothing to do with the pros and cons of ACA, but everything to do with someone raised in the MS culture being in charge of the computer program that is the gateway to health coverage. And we all know how bad MS is at delivering good, stable, error-free products.

  7. Are You Kidding on Former Microsoft Exec To Lead HealthCare.gov · · Score: 1

YGBSM! MS is the poster child for bad code. MS develops products, does v and v to the extent necessary to allow the product to be marketed, then waits on users to find the bugs. Very cost effective. Do you want someone with this background in charge of the computer program behind 0care? I don't. The issue is not the pretty GUI on Healthcare.gov, it is the coding that connects the government and industry databases together, the coding that securely protects private information, the coding that makes sure Americans are getting the health care we signed up for. This is a joke.

Some of my vehicles and small gas engine equipment cannot tolerate any ethanol. The blend wall for them is zero ethanol.

  9. Yes on Lawmakers Out To Kill the Corn-Based Ethanol Mandate · · Score: 1

Ethanol in gasoline is one of the biggest hoaxes foisted on the American public in many years. Destruction of fuel systems and engines, especially small gas engines, lower mpg/higher driving costs. Not to mention the diversion of corn away from food and the cultivation of poor quality farmland for more corn. If people want ethanol in their gas, then let the marketplace decide. Label pumps with blends, charge a per gallon price that reflects the market, and let people buy what they prefer.

  10. Bad News on Red Light Camera Use Declined In 2013 For the First Time · · Score: 1

Bummer. I see cars running red lights almost daily. They deserve a ticket. What is needed are standard rules for implementing, rules known to citizens. For example, what is the definition of an intersection? What is the delay time between red and then green in the cross direction, and what is the length of yellow light time vs. speed limit? Does a car get a ticket if it is in the intersection when the light turns red, or only if entering the intersection after red? I support cameras if used to deter accidents, but not as a means of balancing the local budget.

  12. XP Slow on Exponential Algorithm In Windows Update Slowing XP Machines · · Score: 1

Not sure I understand this, but my XP machine works well, no reboots required, runs fast. Until I get a notice that updates are available. Then it slows down, and starts giving me errors. I have to stop what I am working on, do a reboot, which installs the updates, takes a long time. After the reboot, the machine works fine. I have suspected MS sets a switch in XP forcing my machine to misbehave, so I will be forced to install the updates. I understand the need for updates, but I want to do them at a time convenient for me, say at the end of the day.
