In Swedish schools there are discussions about all kind of "theories" behind the creation of earth and man. However, it is in a subject called "religion", and contains information about all major and some minor religions (like christianity, buddhism, islam, norse gods and beliefs (of course), shinto, hindu, and some others.)

These discussions are good, but they do not fit into a science class. Unless any of them can be proved they way evolution have been of course.

  9. Script languages as glue on The State of Scripting Languages · · Score: 4, Interesting

This part from the old TFA cought my eye:

Conway: Very simply, they're the glue that holds complex systems together. They allow developers to hook together commercial and open source software packages, and to coordinate the resulting systems.

When reading this, I immediately thought of ARexx (and now also show my fondness of the Amiga and somewhat show my age, now git of my lawn!). The use of scripting languages as glue between different programs is somewhat forgotten these days I think. Also forgotten is the easy witch with you could embed ARexx, and how extremely easy it was to interface with programs using ARexx.
I think these aspects could be better developed.

Point being, there are a lot more ways for a terrorist to do damage than by hijacking a plane.

I have been saying the same thing too. If you are a terrorist and want to kill as many as possible (although thats not the goal of most terrorists), why not go to a big arena concert strapped in explosives? Could easily kill many thousands of people. Or for even more damage, fly a private plane full of gasoline into the crowd of a big rock festival. Many tens of thousands killed.

Salvage logging--removal of dead, diseased, or insect-riddled trees--is a good thing for old growth forests. It makes them less vulnerable to wild fires and creates room for new trees to grow.

The only ones I think would panic is the religious nut-jobs, although you would think that the would be used to have their view of the world shattered at least once every hundred year or so.

Product placement. Ford and Coca-Cola sponsor "American Idol" and their products are worked into the show all over the place. I don't particularly care for blatant placements 20 times a minute, but that's the only form of advertising that can't be easily skipped.

I dated a girl from Thailand once, and one time saw a Thai talk-show with her. All of the backdrops were filled with commercials. Was quite unusual to me as I mostly watch Swedish public-service channels.
